Trends - a big update to the Monzo experience

Ah the bar chart element was a misremember!

Thanks for digging it out

I hope it also shows the previous month/year/period.

Seeing it going down as I spend is fine, but I want a comparison.

(Obvs I’ve already built this for myself)

I’d quite like comparisons with the previous period or, for the month, the same month last year.

A dotted line or something showing average spend night be useful…

Is it going to be today?

  • Anyone still keen?

Whatever it is, I’m sure it will be good.

And the righteous shall be rewarded with early roll out :joy:

When this isn’t free money for everyone if you’re on trend, you’re going to be responsible for the disappointment!

Haha - I blame @Peter_G for that one!

Sidenote: Generally, I still think Monzo - on balance - offers the most useable bank app out there. It can always improve though.

I hope/want it to be “Pots in Trends”

I think the non-category categories are basic and inaccurate really. My Trends currently says that I have £10.60 saved this month, this because round-ups are classified as savings. Fair.

But I know I’ve saved more than that. There isn’t an easy way to see the net result of my spending.

Transfers includes anything I’ve manually moved to a pot but also my contribution to our joint account.

I’d like a section below that basically repeats what’s at the top (Get it in now, a toggle to decide which should be at the top) and instead of listing my categories and their spend, list my pots and how much has come in/out from it.

The same as categories, don’t show any that don’t have anything to show. So the pot I made 3 years ago because I wanted to buy Beyonce tickets, that doesn’t need to show. But otherwise list the ones that have activity, ideally the in and out, but the net result would do.

Bills Bills Bills - In £100. Out £89.27. +£10.73
Rainy Day Fund - In £50. Out £0.00 +£50.00
RSPCA - In £1,000. Out £1,000 =£0.00

Etc etc etc

Give people an obvious way to see that their pots/savings are increasing and then if you have a heavy month, you can look at your pots and see

Car Insurance - In £50. Out £850 -£800

and know that you’re not really overspending, you’re just paying something you’ve been budgeting for

Is a better answer not to just categorise transfers to pots as Savings? Granted, a way to set a default category for transfers to/from a certain pot would be better, but it’s easily doable.

I do, though, want category groups (so instead of Spending and Excluded I could configure a bunch of different groups).

Nooooo! This is what’s in Summary and it’s an absolute mess! Categories all the way!
