The Great Permacrises

The markets are responding positivity to the need, pound had risen, albeit slightly but still that’s a positive :fist_right:

Now just have to wait and see which people want to go up as leader. Already read a profile on one who wants to rip up the green agenda as climate change isn’t real. I’d never heard of him before today, so doubt he’s getting many votes from his own party

I agree, but I can see why the party might want this to happen, it’s just buying time for them so they can spin the attention onto the “new leader” and “how different they will be” and hope people forget by the time it happens.

I don’t have any allegiance to Bojo for clarity, I think he’s a F**knut personally.

As you say, let\s hope they don’t get many votes

I think Johnson has to go now. After such a flood of resignations, it doesn’t seem tenable for him to stick around until there’s a new leader, his authority is shot. Better to pick an interim PM to keep things ticking over instead.

Literally reduce heating output in degrees, not the price per unit itself. Wow.

Has someone been playing with flare on the community again @AlanDoe :eyes:

Everyones is at the bottom of their post for me instead of in the lower corner of their avatar:

I think Larry the cat should be new prime minister.

Seems to be a discourse issue only on desktops, Alan said he’s aware in another thread but I can’t remember which.

Germany’s properties tend to be better insulated, no idea if these properties are though. So in theory they should retain the heat better and not cool down as much once the heating is shut off.

It’s being discussed over at

What a surprise. Starmer hasn’t been fined (which was pretty obvious if you actually looked at the rules). Sir Keir Starmer cleared by police over Durham lockdown beers - BBC News

Headline might as well be “No point carrying on with this nonsense to save Big Dog now Big Dog has quit.”

What an absolute waste of time and money.

My home is my office :worried:

I rarely use my heating, so fortunately for me, my usage will increase minimally, so not much outlay involved.

Luckily I’m on a reasonable fixed tariff but that expires in November and I expect it’ll be a shock then.

And even if the current cabinet does decide to come up with something to help, will the next leader want to follow through with it or will they rip it up and try something new?

Suddenly locking in a fortnight ago at +32% (typical use) looks like a good move, I’m glad I went for it even if I am paying for mainly electricity at a higher rate than most for 3 months.
