I am.
Nope. Just using the joint account for joint spending and the EasySavers.
I opened back up an account. I love the app, but the lack of competitive cashback/ savings offers means it doesnāt really fit into my day to day use, so currently sat dormant.
My CASS finished last week, to be frank there just wasnāt enough of interest. I get people like the simplicity and also not having to pay for virtual cards, but ultimately not enough there.
What was missing outta curiousity?
Credit Card, Stocks & Shares ISA. I have pretty much what I need with Natwest or HSBC
Me too. Using the Euro account for direct debits though.
While I agree about the credit card, there are plenty of stocks and shares ISA providers and banks generally are more expensive ways of having that type of account.
What debits actually accept a SEPA (non-EU) IBAN? I donāt actually get why companies restrict it (it doesnāt cost more AFAIK, so just feels like theyāre turning away money) but they do and I think the obligation to not refuse IBAN is from EEA nations rather than from any country in SEPA.
100% agree, Iām trying to reduce the number of apps and mental pressure on my brain of managing multiple accounts. Both the Natwest & HSBC apps are decent enough. My SIPP is with another provider so in theory I could also put my S&S ISA there as well.
You must have known that Starling didnāt have those things, so why did you bother opening a new account?
The Starling IBAN has been accepted by both SANEF and Prixtel. There must be some way they check whether direct debits are available because they both rejected the Monzo Euro IBAN immediately.
Prixtel comes out in a few days so weāll see.
Nice to see upcoming direct debits and incoming payment notifications this morning.
Iād also love to know the percentage of people who actually just use one bank for everything.
The idea expecting sterling as a one stop shop, knowing whatās well discussed here is rather optimistic.
Iād say those with many accounts are the exception, not the norm.
I have many but with a bias towards Lloyds. If I were asked to remain with one I would obviously go with Lloyds.
Iām not saying solely on the account front, although that in a way does apply. I was more referring to other products such as savings and borrowing.
Again I think itās all the same bank for the majority. Itās only a small amount that actually switch per year, most are satisfied staying where they are because thatās all they know or want to know.
I donāt know⦠the thrill of the chase? the roar of the crowd? the smell of the grease paint?
Anyway I see the benefits of Starling for those it suits, app so much less busy than the hot mess of Monzo and a lot less crypto than Revolut
Just did a quick search and came across this YouGov article.
(49%) of Brits prefer to have multiple bank accounts, this increases to two-thirds of Revolut (67%) and Monzo (65%) customers ā and four-fifths (81%) of Starling customers.
Over two in five say they move their money around different accounts to trick themselves into spending less (43% Revolut; 43% Starling; 45% Monzo; 22% nat rep).
