Starling Bank Chat (Part 2)

Just looks like trust issues.

I think people who answer YouGov surveys are more likely to be the proactive ones who would change their bank account. The passive majority, who would never change their bank account, probably couldn’t be bothered to answer a YouGov survey, either.

YouGov gives money for your data (@jo).

Yeahhh…I’m alright tbh. I like my data.

Just annoying I’ve already done most bank referrals

Maybe, but those are just assumptions.

I think having a single account is very risky, especially given the (rare) outages that affect banks sometimes, and also the random freezing of accounts where banks are concerned about a payment or receipt.

I do admit to moving money to keep it out of my mind, I often end up with some money in my account at the end of the month, so save or invest this.

You make a good point, and I think that is only going to get worse with the frequency of outages or cyber incidents.

I’m not sure there’s anyone left who doesn’t have your data :joy:

I used to complete YouGov surveys a long time ago, but I stopped doing them when I realised you needed to complete thousands of surveys to build up enough money to bank.

It made me wonder whether people are giving truthful answers, or whether they are just clicking on any old options just to get through the questions as quickly as possible. If the latter, then the data collected is worthless.

5000 points, but you get about 50 per survey. About 100 surveys, sometimes they send 200 point surveys and sometimes you get quick 2 minute surveys that pay 10-25 points.

You can also get about 100-150ish points a week from YouGov Connect (sharing Netflix history etc) and 15 points per day (105 a week) from YouGov Connect (Bank).

I couldn’t be arsed.

Hang on, so I could just connect like Barclays or Virgin Money which I never use :joy:

Needs to be a minimum amount of transactions over a period of time, but yes I have literally connected 3 accounts with no useful data.

You have to sync them again every 3 months or so.

I don’t, today I was asked what the previous question was about, luckily I had read it and answered.
I was once shadow banned for three months. I could not get anymore surveys, no warnings. Then I got an email saying restrictions on my account had been lifted as I had acted in a way that made them believe it was not a human answering the surveys.
I think because I sometimes forget I have kids or how many I have or their gender :rofl:.
My job or sector also seems to be quickly forgotten :rofl:

I used to get lucky, there are many random 200 points surveys I could get.

Last year they asked for my ID to continue doing surveys, I forgot about it. Returned last week when there was an opportunity to redeem at 2500 points, I have 4k now. I verified ID but still can’t redeem until I make 5k.

I did these when they gave 100 per account every three months. Put there all my empty accounts.
I can’t do their browser thing as I don’t even use Chrom except when I intentionally want to use Topcashback or Quidco.

My time doing, and earning nothing is far more valuable.

Yeah tbh, I’d rather just do some overtime at Asda.

I click three to six buttons buttons once a week and another 2 minutes of my time every 3 months and net Ā£100ish a year from it. For maybe 15 minutes a year of my time that I normally do at work when I’m being paid anyways… is not bad

I have the maximum banks connected and I never use them at all; always got my points.

It’s a really easy way to earn Ā£50. I’ve made that many times.

That being said I do choose not to go for long surveys.

You’ll never find me doing any surveys either honestly. I used to but at some point I realised Prolific is just much better for that if you’ve the patience. Their 20 minute surveys pay like Ā£7-8 outright a lot of the time.
