I’m still waiting for my complaint to be addressed. 4 weeks and counting…

I had a starling account recently and closed it during my purge.

Might have been a mistake

Did you also close Chase? :eyes:

No that one stayed open thankfully. I knew there was no return with them

I feel like I’ve seen this before… any added security is good though

Has anyone got their new landscape cards yet or are they still issuing the old one?

Does anyone remember back in the day (I think probably 2017-19 ish) starling worked with a partner and some participating retailers to show receipts in their banking app associated to the transaction? It was called flux. Seem to remember it had some cashback offers available too.

It was a cool feature but soon died and disappeared, probably because there’s not really any business case for it. But I enjoyed it and shame we haven’t seen anything similar that I’m aware of come into banking apps since…

The big problem Flux had was in trying to convince retailers to sign up to them as well. I think KFC was the only ā€˜national’ retailer and there were a few London coffee shops as well.

Supermarkets wouldn’t join because that sort of data is actually really valuable to them for their own loyalty schemes and they wouldn’t want to give it away for free.

Really the only customers needed were supermarkets, petrol stations and corner shops and you’d have had a lot easier a time getting everyone else signed up IMO.

I’m surprised the supermarkets haven’t tried banding together to make something work. Receipts being moved to banking apps seems like a better solution (greener and healthier, receipt till printer rolls are toxic)

They are but I always tap ā€œGet receiptā€ because I randomly get stopped for a check as I exit. I always squeeze the receipt so hard that it is barely readable, security guys sometimes just shake their heads when they request for one and I give them a squeezed one and let me go but I am sure they read nothing there.

Here’s an idea then, add an email to your bank card.

So in some shops (Bird and Blend Tea as an example) you enter your email on their iPad and then their Shopify sends you your receipt by email.

What if it was made simpler. You add an email address to your bank card (somehow). Then when you pay, the retailer sends the receipt directly to the email that the card gives to the retailer.

Maybe it’s a stupid idea. But it would save paper, and means we can all have digital receipts.

I just refuse the check. They’ve got no legal basis to search you and they can’t detain you either without being liable to be arrested.

Nice idea but giving my email address to a retailer or having receipts sent to my bank account email isn’t something I want. I think the obvious answer is something like Flux or requiring Mastercard/Visa to implement support for digital receipts.

And lots of unsolicited marketing materials.

I am not bothered by it as I am sure everything is paid for. I let them do their job (or appear as doing so) and I get on my way.

Marks & Spencer send you an emailed receipt if you’ve scanned their Sparks loyalty card.

And at the other end of the food shop spectrum - so does Lidl!
