Scheduled Payments from bills pot - show paid vs unpaid

Surprised this isn’t a thing already as it seems fairly obvious. It says what is left to pay from the bills pot, but doesn’t say what makes up that amount. Please just show what is left to pay exactly. I’ve got a lot of direct debits and subscriptions via the virtual card. remove the hassle please. Other apps do this, and the calculation must be based on a list it uses itself. Just show us the calculation.

Trends > Balance > Total upcoming

Also:

Bills pot → Left to pay : shows you what bills will be taken in the next month’ish

Bills pot → Upcoming : At the top it shows you the amount left to pay before the end of the current payment cycle

Yeah it is useful, but for me both of those just show a long list, rather then specifying what’s left to pay. Thanks though.
Magnums suggestion was exactly what I was after. I’d somehow managed to completely overlook the trends section of the app

This is a great example of how differently people can use a flexible banking service. From what you’re describing, you’re looking at your entire financial position in Trends. Not a bad thing to do.

Alternatively, we ringfence all ‘Bills’ which have the same (‘Bills’) category - processed via the Bills pot and excluded from Trends reporting. These transactions never make visibility in Trends so we have no upcoming ‘Bills’ transactions in Trends because they’re boring as hell so we ring-fence them so we don’t see them.

What does make visibility in Trends/balance/target is the remaining, available disposable amount to spend per month - and we watch that target burn-down graph incessantly to make sure we are on-target or better.

As I’ve said before, in prior years/decades, I’ve used the most complex spreadsheet models/local software/online services to manage our accounts and I ditched them all once Monzo launched Trends. My financial planning life is so basic now compared to those historical in-depth planning years and it’s such a huge relief.

  • Important day-to-day bills and repayments : Automated - can’t see in Trends
  • Savings & Investments top-ups: Automated - can’t see in Trends
  • Remaining funds : Available to use as needed to buy the unplanned/random stuff - monitored very closely in Trends
