That’s a nope from me, this is moments away from being reliably breakable.
Santander has released another version of their new app, this time called Santander Pilot. It seems they want anyone to download this one to try it out (even if the other version could also be downloaded by anyone). Based on what they did with their business app, this will eventually become the standard app as the current business app used to be the pilot app.
Don’t know if it’s just me, but the One App UK version is no longer working. Probably could delete it now. Don’t really need three Santander apps.
Thanks for sharing - looks like this beta version is on iOS as well.
Definitely in the right direction but very clearly a lot of bugs to iron out. The app is also pretty big, Monzo’s is about 1/4 of the size to download
They are pretty good at improving it to be fair so bugs should be fixed at some point. It’s already much quicker than what the One App version was (even if it can still be quicker).
Thanks for sharing. I told the wife who banks with them and she was like “oh” and that was as far as she got to downloading it.
Clearly not the fintech nerd I believed her to be.
I downloaded the new Pilot app on my iPhone. Couldn’t remember my Customer Number. Tried to reset on the web. Bin fire. A web page supposedly designed in 2004, and wouldn’t recognise my card details.
If you have multiple accounts with Santander, you need to scroll a lot more compared to the current app
That, and I don’t understand why this version (and the previous One App) show each debit card separately on the main screen…
I can understand showing the debit cards separately as you might only need information about the card (i.e card number, PIN) so it makes sense to have an easy way to view it.
It does also seem they will be giving us some personalisation of the home screen, however, that setting is still coming soon so who knows what that will include.
7% savings with an edge account Santander Edge saver
Yup. Converted my current account today and opened and funded this saver, all in about ten minutes
For Edge accounts only… Edge UP not eligible…
This really confuses me, the Edge Up account seems like a more basic account that costs more?
Yeah, you can earn up to £5pm more cashback than with the standard Edge current account, and earn 3.50% interest on balances up to £25k, for a £5pm fee.
Not much of an edge on the Edge account imo, as no access (it appears) to the 7% Edge Saver, and an interest rate easily beaten by many savings account providers elsewhere
Has anyone tried to open an account? How long has it taken?
Less than five minutes for mine.
Ten, if you include the current account conversion.
I’ve had quite a few issues with Santander being very protective about using their services. Specifically moving money to Monzo and other bank transfers. They’ve invested heavily in steps to prevent fraud, but this has had a significant impact on the customer experience.
A recent example… I rang them up two days before I was due to make a transfer, to tell them it was going to happen. - They said phoning in advance won’t make a difference to the security steps in place.
On the day it was blocked, and it took over an hour on the phone with them for it to be processed. Not only do they block the transaction, but all cards and online access too.
While I know its protecting themselves and their customers, it feels like the balance is no longer right.
Basically I can no longer transfer money with Santander and have confidence its not going to be blocked and my account locked.
I’m in good standing on all my accounts with all my providers.
Completely disagree. I’ve had absolutely no issues with transfering money. Everything has always worked how I expected it to.
I got blocked once by Santander moving money in and out. 10 min or so phone call everything resolved.
They just updated One App to - 1.12.0., Pilot - 1.10.2 on Android.
Don’t know… why they need 2 applications?
At one stage I had a “This app is for invited users only” prompt on One App after using it for around a week, but the blurb on the Play Store would seem to imply it’s for anyone. Rather confusing and unsure where it actually stands - especially with multiple apps.
