This is a good read up, just to add about stoozing, you’re opening a further credit account for the credit card.

So if you’ve done all your bank accounts this past few months and now going for the credit card, you might not get as favourable limits/terms due to all the activity on your credit file over the short term.

What are the RBS notifications like nowadays? Last time I had a Nat West account it was just debit card transactions and they were silent.

Other half complained as their reasoning for rejection isn’t clear or helpful as to why.

It does seem a little weird even when the complaint handler was talking about it, didn’t refer to credit file/score/fraud.

Just said a “review” of everything meant they can’t offer an account. Strange.

Anyway. He received this in the post today. How thoughtful. Card said “sorry we can’t offer you an account”.

Even more strange.

On checking this months statement noticed the branch address is now shown as Manchester

It closed on 5 October according to the RBS website.

I’ve done it once and just needed to look at the camera and blink. Pretty easy really. Definitely better than a card reader.

Really not impressed with my new rbs account. Its been open for a number of weeks now. Today its not working at all or the website (despite the service status page saying its all fine). Too many separate id numbers, one current account card and one digital banking card, biometrics in the app that wont let me register despite having used the app for a few weeks (when the app is working). Not a great customer experience at all.

Ive found things completely different. Everything has worked when ive needed it it (which isnt saying your problems with the app and website dont exist, they may have just been when i wasnt using the app), everything in the app works. Biometrics were easy to set up. Really pleased with it so far.

Working again now and when i logged back in it prompted me to set up biometric authentication and approval.

Their twitter team confirmed there was an issue this morning. Must have just been unlucky when trying to access to transfer some funds.

Is there something that you know about which is meaning you have to use the card?

I must admit the online banking for me has always been smooth.

Trying to get through to support about alleged declined transactions on my account, but took a while to get past Cora.

Autobot useless for my enquiry this time.

I started an application for a new current account but gave up, I didn’t upload any ID, or submit the application. RBS still performed a hard credit check. Am I right to be annoyed?

I think it was the old one, but I would still usually expect it to be performed once you get to the end, verify your details, then submit.

Did you get to the part where they offer you an overdraft (which you can decline?). If so, they will already have done the hard search.
