Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Chat

Pretty sure it’s a HSBC Group thing. I seem to remember going through it multiple times for HSBC, M&S Bank and First Direct.

I haven’t actually had to call First Direct at all since rejoining last Autumn - which is surprising given how much time I ended up speaking to human beings the previous time.

Santander I think ‘after the tone, please say at Santander, my voice is my password’ followed by the inevitable it didn’t work message

HSBC use “My voice is my password”.

That is verbatim the Atom Bank phrase you have to speak.

It’s a line from the 1992 film Sneakers. Of course, in the film it’s bypassed by playing a tape recording of the voice…

We’ve moved on. These days, we’d play the recording through our phones

Never even heard of that film before today.

For two banks to use it, I’m guessing it’s some kind of British cult classic?

It’s a while since I’ve seen it but it had Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier and Dan Ackroyd in it from what I remember.

Santander quote. Had to use it only last week

Many US institutions use the same phrase

MacOS 9 (released in 1999) also used it for a voice login feature:

Excellent. I have a toilet seat iBook in the garage somewhere.

Didn’t know this was a thing. Handy.

It used to be possible before, but it also used to count towards the £150. I wish I’d known about this before I redeemed my last £50 worth of MyRewards.

Just got my Premier debit card… so boring, I loved the shed cards.

Circling back to this, messaging on this is really confused. They used to advertise this on the DRS webpage apparently, but they have now removed reference to it.

So I won’t risk it.

Round ups and your reward transfers don’t count towards your £150, so you have opportunity to gain more.

Is that the black one?

Does it say anywhere for rewards? I looked around on the website and couldn’t find reference to it anywhere.

I’m sure when I signed up for rewards last week it was on there.

I’ll have a nosey.

Digital Regular Saver | Regular Savings Account | NatWest.

Weirdly it’s on the NatWest site but not RBS. But I am fairly confident I seen it when signing to Reward recently.
