Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) Chat

Are you talking about the products the Child & Co and Drummonds brands offer privately, other than normal RBS products?

I’m thinking about the special form version of both. There may well be other things that the real accounts have too.

I’m not sure how you mean the accounts are any different in that case. The accounts are the same, just with overrides which force different logos on stationary (unless there’s a difference I’m not aware of?).

The app/digital experience was identical too, and still would be other than for the fact this part of the app is completely hidden for anyone with an account from one of the subbrands - but that’s a profile difference rather than an account one.

There was mention of them being treated differently way back, I think maybe on this forum. Something about the person finding that they had been allocated a personal banker or something like that I think.

The joint account I tried to close that seemingly didn’t work… My wife finally was removed last night then this morning the account has vanished for both of us, so I guess the closure didn’t kick in until she was removed.

The C&Co cheque book I ordered in Feb just arrived, too bad it’s for an account I closed last month. :joy:

I had a manual refund via contactless sent to my account yesterday. Received an immediate notification that a refund was accepted by the bank via the app (which I’ve never seen such a message before).

There’s nothing in pending - an agent told me they wouldn’t be, but it also hasn’t arrived yet.

Appreciate I’m being impatient but I find it odd the app side can tell me a refund has been processed but it isn’t sat in pending or visible anywhere else until it actually arrives

RBS don’t see pending payments I don’t think, at least their front line folk don’t.

I think that’s probably one of the bigger things I dislike about RBS (and there’s very few), not sure how difficult it would be to show incoming/pending.

Santander and Starling do the same I think?

Merchant processes refund, sends a message to the original transaction, which in turn alerts the customer it’s requested.

Why a payment takes 2-3 days in this method in 2024 I’ll never know, unless assumed someone either side holds it for interest gain :man_shrugging:t3:

As for my list of dislikes:

No pending payments in/out visible
Silent notifications
Caps in the app
No swipe from left of the screen to go back (probs my biggest gripe).

I can weigh in here, I took something to the post office for Amazon return, a few hours later Starling sent a notification saying Amazon have refunded £x amount and it will be added to my account once they receive it, then the next day another notification saying it had been refunded and paid into my account.

It’s funny because the Android app literally does have all those things fixed. :joy:

Wasn’t an issue to begin with. :joy: I don’t think.

I don’t know which bank uses “password” but I wonder if it’s somehow trademarked?
