Is Monzo so bad that they’re now paying compensation to people signing up for it?

By that logic, Lloyds, Barclays, First Direct, Santander, Nationwide, NatWest. Co-op must all be on that list since they also offer some sort of incentive to switch…. banks have done this for years.
