When I reconnect a connected bank account, it moves to my pinned accounts automatically. I would like it to stay in my neatly organised list of other accounts instead. I’d also like this list to be sorted A-Z by default but this doesn’t seem to be an option.
From the Home screen:
- Scroll down to the bottom and tap on ‘Customise’
- Tap on ‘Accounts’
- In the ‘Pinned’ section, long-press on the two lines to the right of an account and, without letting go, drag up or down to reorder to your preference
- Do the same for the ‘Other’ section to reorder non-pinned accounts (f nothing is in the ‘Other’ section, drag an account down from the ‘Pinned’ section to the ‘Other’ section)
@davidwalton this is correct but if you reconnect a bank account, it ignores your previous customisations and places it back in the pinned section.
Don’t disconnect it then
@Carlo1460 you don’t get a choice. I think you need to reconnect them every 90 days.
I’d assume that the Monzo app doesn’t hold a cache of settings for reasons of bloat and security, so the need to go back in and set-up the app as preferred after adding any connected account (new or reconnected) seems a reasonable action to me?
@davidwalton I assume they already assign a UID to each account, so it’s just a case of keeping a record of the order.
It’s a minor inconvenience but something which would appear to be easily fixed.
Don’t you get the chance to renew your accounts before they disconnect?
This is a recent thing, I’ve noticed it too.
Yes, but if a connection expires prematurely due to an external issue, when you reconnect it it pins it. If you’d manually disconnected it and reconnected it in future I’d understand, but this happens for accounts that are unpinned, get disconnected without your input, and then get pinned when you reconnect them. It should remember where it was before, and it always used to do this in this situation. It’s definitely something that’s changed recently.
Just to say Virgin’s connection pooped out the other day and when they finally got reconnected they were all pinned. It was annoying.
Ah, I’m gonna screenshot my Home Screen just in case. Memory can be deceiving when you try to setup something like that again.
Whenever my bank does maintenance I seem to have to reconnect and repin. This feels like a weekly occurrence and isn’t something I have to do anywhere else my accounts are connected.
I’d like to not have to reorganise my app every time.
Yeah, it happened to me when RBS were doing some maintenance (not the usual 2am app sleep). I had it with both RBS and first direct on the same day.
I assume it’s because there’s an error response returned when it pulls the transactions, but I wonder if there’s a way to tell if it’s due to maintenance or the connection has explicitly been severed. It could be a limitation of the API responses, and maybe affects Monzo more if they poll more frequently.
