Receipt from Picture

Its only taken me a week of trial and error etc to finally extract a Receipt from an image.
I started with an image of a Receipt for Cheaney Shoes( A great Northhampton Shoe brand).
I initially tried to use Tesseract OCR which is an open source Optical Character recognition software but it would seem that it required way too much preprocessing to get anywhere meaningful.
I’ve since tried Google’s offering( Google vision) Which I assume is the technology underlying Google lens.
That is a hundred times better.
I think tomorrow I will play around with various other types of reciept(Train etc) to see what sort of accuracy and reliability there is.
Then after that the plan will be to see if it can be uploaded to the right transaction.
As it would seem that Monzo + is the hot topic.
I pose a question would you pay for the service(If Provided by Monzo((Especially as google would charge Monzo)))

Interestingly both failed to recognize the n

It looks to me like they don’t recognise the n as there was a staple in the middle of the right hand part of it which puts a gap in print and that is likely what is throwing them off.

I’m not sure i would pay for this service but it would definitely be a great ‘value add’ feature for Flux, for example.

I have zero need to OCR my receipts. If I need a copy of a receipt for business purposes, and image is fine therefore no, I wouldn’t pay to use it. Good OCR software for general scanning I do have an interest in though.

Is also be a no to paying for this. I have no need for transferring paper to digital and would never get round to doing it even if I did!

If all it took was one snap and the info is in the app, there will definitely be people using it,

Monzo can see how many people add a receipt by picture to their transactions in-app and if it’s a significant % then they should look into it

Hi have tried receipt bank ?

I didn’t know it existed until you mentioned it
EDIT having looked at the cost I reckon Monzo could monetise it at a much lower rate if they wanted to

I don’t know if it could be linked to Monzo but it would be good if it could

I use it for my accounts and linked to Xero no manual date entry for me if Monzo could conect there business Monzo direct to Xero for real time accounts that would be good

Maybe mention it here as well:

Hi I use Xero accounting with direct feeds from my bank if would be good if you can incorporate it into Monzo for business allso I use receipt bank recognition to enter all invoices and receipts may be you can link it too realt time accounting ?
