Question on virtual cards and pots

I’ve set up a pot with a virtual card and transferred over £15.

If I make a payment for £20 using the virtual card, does anyone know if the payment will be blocked, or whether the additional £5 will be taken out of my main account?

If it’s the former, it would solve a lot of problems for me. I could create a pot for each of my kids, transfer pocket money weekly and give them the virtual card details to use on their phone. Doesn’t work very well if they can spend more than the value of their pot though!

The payment will decline from the virtual card as, unlike direct debits, the funds come from the pot itself.

Direct debits will use the remaining balance of the pot, and then some from your main balance if any.
