Privacy Options for the App

This is a great idea, Dom! I definitely think we can do something like this. I’ll add it to our ideas board.

I also agree with stealth pot & hiding overall balance. Now that i’m getting my salary on i, even if I move funds to a pot, the move of funds is recorded as a transaction so if I show a friend and scroll, it’s clear as day how much I make (and spend).

Another idea would be to be able to toggle individual transactions as “private” by double tapping them, which would effectively blur them. To unblur you would need to tap them again (like the spoiler blurs on this forum) and maybe authenticate with Touch ID ?

What about Open Banking and transactions being disclosed to other Marketplace companies? There might be some entries that you wouldn’t want a third party to see.

I would love this as well, an option to either hide the balance or pixelate it so you have to tap on it to see it, similar to Apple’s “Invisible Ink” feature on iMessage!

I think Demo Mode is the way forward with this, and could just simply be the same one Monzo show in presentations as a company.

This way I can show them a fake home and spending tab, Monzo.me could be real, because if anyone really wants to send me money on there, I won’t complain :stuck_out_tongue: hahaha

I would love an ability to hide my main balance. There’s an app that implemented it perfectly in my opinion - there’s a shortcut to trigger a private mode that hides all balances (double tap on the “portfolio” icon). If you really need this feature, you’ll find it but it doesn’t complicate the app for anyone else. https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/crypto-pro-bitcoin-ticker/id980888073

Or the ability to make it look more than it is!

Isn’t that TSBs feature?

Isn’t there an easy way to hide the balance? You just close the app…

+1 for all of this. Actually not really at all because I am too worried about using the app in public, but because it’s so difficult to show people how cool Monzo is while trying to hide my balance/salary/spends etc. Particularly tricky at work, which is where I’ve wanted to show the most people! Tend to just show them the more private pages of the app.

Bump for votes!

Have voted.

I don’t have my salary paid into Monzo simply because I don’t want others to see it when I show them the app.

A demo mode (completely fabricated account) or privacy mode (balance and certain transactions such as salary somehow hidden) is something i’d very much appreciate. Exiting the demo or privacy mode should require authentication (biometrics or pin).

Any news about the privacy settings?

Many thanks

Suggest to have the option to hide your account balance from the app dashboard in case you are in a public space with people looking over your shoulder etc.

I have been saying this since 2016 but like all good ideas or things that are to difficult to do they get ignored.

“Good” is always in the eye of the beholder :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Or the many others that agreed and wanted the same thing

I see 5 votes. Is there another thread?

Just look for things like demo mode or hide balance
