Scenario
When I am out and about, I sometimes go on the app to check my account details or some other piece of information.
Problem
Other people can glance on my phone screen and see my balance.
Ask
I wish there was an option to toggle ‘Hide monetary values’ or something so that I can comfortably go on my account to view other details without worrying someone passing/sitting by me will see my balance.
This can work similar to location sharing on Snapchat where you enable ‘Ghost mode’ :
I actually think a better use case for this is where you want to show off the app to a friend without showing your balances. Surely this would be to Monzo’s benefit?
The previous posts have been left stale for a few years now and start trailing off into transaction and pot balance hiding.
Definitely happy to see some others share a similar pain point and yes of course you can control the environment/surroundings but there are still a few scenarios where it cannot be:
Having to go into the app when approving a payment at checkout.
Filling a friend’s card details to pay them back whilst they’re in front of you.
Some scenarios like that would make it way less anxious if I had a privacy toggle that I can turn beforehand like when I go outside or know I’ll be in a situation where I’ll have to whip up the app (i.e. a peace of mind feature)
@eray_chumak This is exactly what I would like to see happen! It’s a really important privacy feature to me and have been very eager to see this baked in to the app.
I asked Monzo about this ages ago and it didn’t appear too important to anyone back then either which is a great shame.
This is something Starling as an example has offered for ages now. It’s a really simple thing but a nice touch and important to me when I am out and about.
I don’t want nosey people looking over my shoulder on the train or bus for example seeing how much money I do or don’t have.
