Pawn King!!! lol
i hear you thoughā¦
How much longer are they really going to be around for⦠One of my mates is currently working on a cheque digitisation project and is tipped for the decommissioning project in ~2019. Iām much more excited to start using new banking methods (through
marketplace), and as Iāve never written a cheque I voted no, but I can see why some people may still need them in the short term.
Cheques should die in a fire - no thank you.
The Payments Council, a banking industry body, had been planning to decommission them by 2018.
However, after widespread criticism from MPs and charities, it has now decided they will be kept āas long as customers need themā.
Just because a lot of people donāt want or need to use cheques doesnāt mean they are worthless. As people have pointed out, a lot of schools still accept them, and a bank transfer is nothing compared to a child opening a birthday card and a cheque falling out.
But schools should be lobbied to support online or contactless payments (many already do, this is inevitable) and cheques are readily available from many other banks. I would say Monzo, with its instant notifications should really get into the old-fashioned business of issuing cheques.
But a nice crisp £20 is better then both of the above
If it hasnāt been lifted at the sorting office!
Oh I apologise if my comment upset you. It was meant in jest as your are the one that likened yourself to the government in the first place in justifying why it was ok to have a first biased post.
I realise people do use them but there are plenty of banks to use for chequebooks. Monzo should focus on trying to build the replacement for these use cases otherwise theyāll end up as basically a legacy bank by trying to do things in the same way theyāve always been done.
How about, something like this?
https://www.dbs.com.sg/personal/ibanking/faq/online-cheque.page
Then us trendy āfuture folkā donāt have to ever touch a manky old cheque
But I want mine printed on velum in gold leaf!
If Monzo bring out cheques can we have a new promotional itemā¦a hot coral desktop pen holder with a hot coral penā¦and maybe a chain so it does not get lost
i would be all over this like a hot coral rash

Will it write in hot coral ink on the hot coral cheques?
Nowt would read that - not even a human, youād end up with RSI of the eye
and a hot coral cheque book holder
You may be a little young to get the reference, but I think Richard does!
