That’s a good point. If anyone knows the answer, I’d like to know.
I use a multi-agency credit reporting website and Monzo only shows on Callcredit.

Be sceptical of what Vodafone tell you. I signed up with them back in January using my legacy bank account, online everything went fine, but no indication of anything happening.
Went into the shop, they looked and said I was still being credit checked (despite online saying all was good). Turned out, their system didn’t like my home address (Edinburgh has 2 system for flat numbers…), changed it and ta-da it worked!
Last week I had to call them to solve an issue, person answered and said they couldn’t access my details as the whole system was down, hung up, immediately called back and no problem.
Roll on January when I’m out of contract…
lol what? Vodafone don’t take specimen signatures to keep on file for future checking. Phones4u also went out of business years ago.
I know, I did really mean a while back. Was trying to estimate how long ago this actually was this morning. I reckon between 8-10 years ago.
They definitely needed two exact signatures at the time.
If this BBC News report is anything to go by, this may not have been a specifically Monzo problem:
A problem with Vodafone’s credit check systems meant that some applications submitted via the contract resellers were incorrectly turned down.
The order through my legacy bank also failed on the Monday evening. Again no reason given, again no actual credit check took place. Monzo told me that no checks hit their system either. I think the delay at the Vodafone end caused their systems to reject the order as some kind of fallback.
The new SIM card took untill Tuesday evening to provision, which usually takes 2-24hours from ordering so should have been done by 10:30 Monday. Then I was unable to register an online account without contacting customer services.
Short version. Good news, it’s probably not a Monzo issue.
