Octopus Energy Chat

Has anyone had an issue with the home mini still not showing the live data? 12 hours, a reboot and installing app on another device without any luck.

Now not reporting gas to octopus as well.

No issues from me.

I set mine up yesterday and even though the app said it will start showing data in an hour it was only ~ 5 minutes. I’ve just checked now and it’s still working.

Mine wasn’t showing yesterday afternoon but today I now have a live view.

If it could just stay like this, that’d be great

You can toggle to view the price and I can’t :open_mouth:

Price doesn’t include tax or standing charge which is disappointing.

You will get it eventually it’s coming on in stages to everyone however I will argue it’s a really useful feature much more important than the unit figure.

I have it but it’s not used. The price can’t yet be calculated for certain smart tariffs. Intelligent Octopus, for example, has a structure where even Octopus doesn’t know which ‘intelligent’ slots are being applied until they’ve actually happened. So a real-time price calculation isn’t possible:

It can for Agile because a set price per each 30-minute slot is allocated. So apps like OctoAid, Octopus Watch, etc., can access the set price for the slot and accurately calculate the prices including/excluding the standing charge as required - using the kWh usage data from your account.

Y tho :upside_down_face:

Do these things glitch sometimes?

We aren’t doing anything we wouldn’t normally. Seems a lot for 30 mins!

Nothing on bar two TVs, a ps5, and the sound bar like it does every day.

Curious if it’s somehow just recorded the full data for the day as it doesn’t have anything on day view yet except some from early this morning.

You don’t get ‘live day’ data, unfortunately - even with the OHM. You get the last 5 mins, the last 30 mins or yesterday (23:30 - 23:30 is a ‘day’ in smart meter land, with 48x 30-minute slots)

Your electricity use is comparable to mine tbh, after the hot tub switched off at just after 10pm, we were drawing 440W - that’s in ‘low-use’ mode before the washing machine and dishwasher auto-start at 23:30 when the off-peak period starts.

When I tap day at the top it gives me nothing for the majority of the day.

That’s the overlap from yesterday (slots 23:30 - 00:00 and 00:00 - 00:30) which are actually ‘today’ but seen in-app as ‘yesterday’- I have the same. But the rest of the day (today) won’t show up until after 23:30 tonight - when it’ll then be reported as ‘yesterday’

All normal behaviour although it looks weird at first.

Ah fair enough.

Still though. It’s impossible for us to have used £7 this past 30 mins, otherwise our bills would be £0000s a month

I don’t have access to the (beta) cost calcs because of the smart tariff I’m on. Could the £5.7982 be for the whole day so far?

If it works out to be £6 a day total (inc. standing charge), then that’s about £180 per month in electricity - sound about right?

That’s what I was trying to say, but live feed seems to be saying it’s for the last 30 mins or so

Our total is £186 a month gas elec. Will see tomorrow, definitely faulty if my day use is high. We’ve hardly done anything here today, I was out most of it.

Definitely some false reads :joy: panic over.

Tracked is being opened up in July. :tada:

Also received the same email. With energy costs on the decrease, will this always be the best option? (Aside from random spikes/fluctuations)

It is mentioned on their website too:

Upto £1kwh is a fair risk.
