O2’s incompetence thread

That said I’ll get me a Lyca SIM this weekend to test out EE 4G vs O2 “5G” here because the speeds can be a touch grating at times.

Go through uswitch, they have a 5GB plan for 89p, great for testing

Edit, must’ve expired, still these are good

Just turn off auto renew!

Maybe they finally installed some backhaul fibre to it to support better connections.

Does the my network app show you any local work?

Well, my eSIM transfer failed so now I’m left with no number and can’t get to an o2 shop until tomorrow

EE arent any better their website barely works and their customer support is in shambles from my personal experience

I’ve been really lucky I’ve always had excellent customer service from EE. Last month when my renewal was due someone spent 10 mins tweaking all the bits of my account to save me £15 extra each month.

Then today I got a really chatty chap in Wales who helped me pair my new Apple Watch. The wait time was slow (8-10 mins on hold) but when you get through they are great.

What did you do? How does this work? Is it when restoring from a backup? Or transferring phone to phone?

I requested a new sim through the o2 app, but they took a few hours to get me an eSIM profile

You have to have your old phone to initiate the transfer as it sends an OTP to your number

Strangle Now mobile supported eSIM quick transfer, but that number is a physical sim anyway

Oh, are you on the new billing platform? If you can request a new eSIM via app.

I started a SIM swap to a spare eSIM I had lying about before I discovered the option to transfer an eSIM during the setup phase.

There is that feature but o2 dont support it

Ah, I thought I read earlier that it did / your screenshot looked like it

No sorry, I should be clear about what I meant, Because I think I got very wire crossed a bit

The Esim transfer from the app works eventually, It just took a few hours from initiate to get to getting the profile on My new phone

There is also an Esim transfer feature in the setup phase of the iPhone, called “transfer your number”

That is what is not Supported by O2, Or Lyca! Surprisingly, now mobile support it

I did try and take a picture to show here. However it didn’t upload to my iCloud before I wiped the old phone.

What do you mean by this? How you do it?

The only option I see is to do a SIM swap to a new (paper) eSIM using the SSN

O2 app → support → swap sim

That took serval hours to get the new eSIM profile, so I was left without service for about 3 hours yesterday

Ah, you must be on their new billing platform!

For me the only option there is to provide the serial number of a new (existing) SIM; I can’t just request a new one to be sent electronically.

Hope I get moved over soon.
