No way to delete or archive a running spilit?

Set up a running spilt with my wife on a trip. She then paid me from another bank.

Seems to be no way to delete the spilt or archive it?

One fudge would be for me to send her money and she sends it back but that seems convoluted…

I have an “Archive split” button and also a “Leave” button at the bottom of the split page? No?

Add a manual transaction to zero the split and then close it …

You cannot use them when there is a running total.

Does this cover it?

Send a message to the support and they can close it. And if they say they cannot, then raise a complaint- this worked for me a few years back, they eventually closed it

+1 on this. The running split feature is half baked. I’ve had a split open for 3 years now I can’t close. We’ve even tried adding transactions to make it zero - in order to close/archive. With no avail

tried this, but I can’t add a transaction on behalf of a member to make it zero. I tried adding transactions on other members app and we still were unable to bring the balance to zero.

Yeah it’s one of the shortcomings I stumbled across. I hoped it’d make things easier but since those I often split with (my parents) have a different bank they can only mark it as paid (unlike the one time request for money which they can pay in one tap with Apple Pay) and so that’s an extra step for them which isn’t what I wanted. Then the split stays forever until you go in and unsplit all the bills again. It’s all because you can’t mark it as settled up yourself and Monzo won’t allow you to leave the split until it’s settled even if you’re the one owed. They also won’t allow the third party to leave, which has to be some kind of GDPR violation since it’s just a convenience feature and not a formal credit contract with the third party. To be able to keep spamming someone with reminders against their will seems unwise.

Worse, they (well my dad for now) opened an account with Monzo to check it out on the side but without being ready to switch full time, which then shuts out the website version and always opens the app to pay the balance that they’ve already paid - with no way to say “I’ve already paid this directly” like they could with the web version they saw before downloading the app. All in all it’s a bit of a mess but adding some flexibility around settling up would be a big help.

Hot off the press: very excited to share that we released an update to Monzo Split to archive a running split! You’ll find it towards the bottom of the screen.

Let us know how you’re finding it please
