The excitement is building! Got my £27 Curry’s misprice arriving in 10 days. Now to acquire a Swith to play it on!
The Animal Crossing direct is on the 15th of October. It will last for around 20 minutes. Can’t wait!
I’m so beyond hyped for Friday. I remember literally running home from school the day Metroid Fusion released (Prime came a couple of weeks later as a birthday present).
I’ve been waiting 19 years for Metroid 5, damnit.
I would say I’ve been waiting 23 years.
Fusion really didn’t do it for me. Far too much hand holding for my liking. Totally missed the isolation feeling that really makes a Metroid game.
I agree. That said, Fusion has aged superbly. The atmosphere*, combat, and enemies are all superior to Super Metroid for me.
I’m slowly replaying Super at the moment (had plans to replay Zero Mission, AM2R, Super and Fusion in the lead up to Dread). It’s still a phenomenal game, but going back to the floaty physics after the more recent games is a real buzzkill.
*thinking about it, tension is probably a better word than atmosphere, considering Super is dripping with atmosphere.
Given that the game is the more expensive part, I prefer the MS way (but take your point!).
Also, sometimes Gamepass just has the “Ultmiate” version.
Edit: wondering if the amazing residuals on Nintendo games has something to do with being able to offer the add ons for free. Must help a lot when they’re still making £50+ on four year old launch titles.
Definitely agree that it’s an interesting route. Although I struggle to understand the pricing or interest in the ‘Switch Online+Expansion Pass’ as a whole… like, I get nostalgia but is it really worth another £30something a year for some ancient games?
Think I’m with Ravi’s thought re Nintendo’s absolute lock on prices giving them scope to offer free updates for longer than other publishers might.
Interesting thing happened to me with gamepass and expansions this week in that I went to buy the Outer Wilds DLC and then realised I had never owned it and it’s no longer on gamepass
so I will now have to buy the full game and DLC, which I’ll certainly do, but will play through some other things first and hope that it appears in a sale…
Get it, I still use it and it’s great.
Some good custom workout vids from this guy too: Master Trainer Peter - YouTube
I know this is the switch thread, but probably not worth starting a new one for DS…
I’ve got a 2DS XL coming my way. Not really sure what to expect after the switch - big step down?
It also is coming without games… What should I start with, what are the must-play titles?!
I’ve started Luigi’s Mansion and enjoying a lot. Unfortunately, the device keeps freezing. Almost certainly a hardware issue. I will have to open up and tinker… Hazard of old products, I suppose!
Majora is still around £40 though… Seems pricey for a game on a console they don’t even make anymore!
See this is why I am loving it. I prefer a harder game - my memories of Pokemon Red/Blue are the difficulty, the time it took to complete and the satisfaction that came with it, and while I understand the changes made over time, I wish there was a way to remove them.
I like being lost, I like that Pokemon aren’t so easy to find. I’m so old school that given the option I would revert to only those Pokemon who fight gain EXP!
The graphics I prefer too - true, they are more childish, but I don’t mind that. It’s a cute factor that has throwbacks to the original graphic style - the Switch games had started to go more Digimon in style.
TBF, I think the point and aim of these is to be a 10 year old game with a lick of paint - so they have done a good job IMO.
I’m enjoying Brilliant Diamond, but I suspect it’s mainly my nostalgia for the original at play.
Honestly, I think I’d have preferred a remake more in line with Sword and Shield, like HG/SS and OR/AS were for Gen 4 and Gen 6. Hopefully Legends Arceus scratches that itch.
That said, the soundtrack is wall to wall bangers.
I bought a switch just for breath of the wild 3 months ago, just up to where you go to the main castle and fight Ganon, haven’t played it in 2 month
I need Mario kart and Mario party to play others (I’m naff at all games)
I still haven’t fought ganon and I’m like 120 hours into the game. I only have two temple things left to find (and I have searched everywhere), I have all the armour, I have slaughtered so many lionels they are basically cattle at this point. I just have an aversion to actually finishing it
I’ve just switched off from it, OH is always on it playing Pokemon or something
Me! I love Mario Kart. We have a little weekly tournament with some guys at work.
Oh wow. So much swearing for a Pokémon review ![]()
I got in one of the sessions and played all three sports available! So much fun. This game is a definite buy. Giving me serious Wii Sports throwback vibes. And it’ll definitely incentivize me to buy another set of Joy Cons for 3/4 player fun.
FYI
I also got in on the action. I agree at the price point it is a no brainer!
