Wouldnā€™t that give them less reason to move? If they can see all from the monzo app then thereā€™s no reason to move the accounts

I personally donā€™t think open banking (the connecting other accounts part at least) will be a plus feature, especially as the re-design was essentially done around it.

I hope not, but if the concern is that people will use the Monzo app to manage accounts held elsewhere and therefore not make any money for Monzo, then Plus would seem a logical destination. :man_shrugging:

Iā€™m inclined to think this is about payment initiation. I think I remember there being an indication in strings a while back that that was on the cards.

Yeah I agree but I donā€™t see payment initiation being released without connected accounts being there. Surely the flow is connect account -> initiate payment from connected account.

True :sweat_smile: Unless there was something to highlight how advantageous having all your bills, for example, in Monzo proper would be.

Or at the very least I guess it could be used to improve the CASS process:

ā€œThese are the bills and standing orders you are transferring to Monzoā€. I think Simon mentioned that a lot of people are nervous about their mortgage and important payments when CASSing.

I reckon itā€™s being able to see balances and transactions on the accounts we hold with other banks - this time using the true open banking APIs.

If so, Iā€™m hoping this will include Amex!

It has to be something which is either directly or indirectly profit generating. I suspect it is not something for Plus because it would have made sense to have it ready before Plus was launched (and it was ready for launch weeks ago, but postponed due to Coronavirus).
