Natwest Chat

Just SAR (subject access request) them for your recorded calls, I just had this with Ulster Bank Ireland while trynig to sell my house (which is a perfect example of the awfulness that gets created when you don’t have competition, like the Irish banking market):

Me: So your saying you never got my house deeds and gave me the mortgage anyway, and never heard from my solicitor last week to ask for them?
CS: Yes, we never received your deeds, and we never heard from your solicitor. But I can see here that we sent your deeds to my solicitors name last week (they didn’t send them) and random solicitor I’ve never heard of 6 years ago
Me: Do you understand how stupid what you just said is?

They just paid out €2k to have somebody draw up the documents I need, all because of that one call (I spent atleast 15 hours on the phone with them that week)

The text message (for Ulster Bank Ireland SAR portal) came from Natwest UK with the other messages regarding my Natwest account

Does anyone know what this is?

I exclusively use this card with Apple Pay and there’s no transaction for that amount. The £35ish, possibly an authorisation hold but for what?

I’m gonna assume that NatWest’s customer support will likely have a better idea where a transaction is from than us lol.

If I Google 4399 debit card it comes up with either a Chinese entertainment pre-paid card service or the first 4 digits of cards issued by Belco Community Credit Union in the US.

Or it could be 4 random numbers.

Nah, breakfast was £35. I’m soaking last night all up with a second Spoons one.

Let’s try chatting to Cora.

Also most expensive breakfast I’ve seen.

4399 could be the branch ID of somewhere you’ve bought from.

Must be what they teased in an email a few weeks ago. Heres their website page about it

It sounds similar to the Barclays Travel Wallet.

Hopefully their travel credit card will be less underwhelming.

Can’t be, that email teased a travel reward card (on visa platinum) AFAICR

What’s the exchange rate?

Does anyone know the rules around NatWest reward accounts and switching between account types? I had reward platinum on one of my current accounts and switched it back to a normal select account last month. I now want to convert my other select account to a reward account as I’ve switched a Santander account to that. I used the online form but had an email a week later to say they couldn’t action the account change I’d asked for. Perhaps I need to wait a full month before trying to get a new Reward account…

A statement possibly needs to be produced inbetween? Not sure though.

Yes, I was about to suggest that. Though only for EUR where as at least Barclays does USD.

Wonder if they’ll expand over time to support other currencies?

Sounds similar to the Starling Euro account too

Yes, only less functional. €200/month rather than £300/day free.

It’s only for euros?

lol

Not very transparent, eh NatWest?
