Ouch
I’m not really surprised. At that rate, for £1, it works out the same as before (normal mastercard rate + 2.75%):
Can appreciate some people might like the budgeting aspect of it, but otherwise it’s more complicated and worse value than other no-foreign-fee cards.
Basically a less functional and more expensive version of Starling’s Euro account.
So I’m trying to open a new Ulster account. When I select the option for existing (or past) customers I get told to log into online banking and apply that way – except when I log in I’m told I have no accounts and I can not do anything except log out.
Has anyone encountered this with any of the NWG banks? Do I apply as a new customer?
I have with both RBS and NW, it has me login (via the application form - not seperately) - and then it pre populates my info and allows me to proceed
Than is! This is what I get, and when I click the button it just takes me to the normal online banking interface.
Maybe they aren’t quite ready with the full application flow? I wonder what happens if I apply as a completely new customer? I just want the 5.2% saver…
Yes that’s exactly it. They’re not matching up with what RBS/NW do
Hm, I’ll try to speak two someone tomorrow – or maybe just apply as a new customer?
I did that too, in the past with RBS. I have no idea what the game with Ulster is though.
Did what sorry – apply as new?
I’d just apply as a new customer, after all that’s what we do when we’re using the “old form” for a Child & Co etc so there’s a parallel there. They’ll mostly likely match you up with your old profile.
Also got the update, but not travel account in the app, which is almost certainly because I’ve got a Visa debit card.
Same with me , Shame.
I’m Mastercard and no joy.
Same for me
What are the benefits of this over just allowing fee-free use of your debit card from your main account? Not sure why some banks are going down this route rather than the Monzo/Starling route.
Probably to be “different”
It’s to make it look like they’re offering something more, isn’t it
