Nationwide Chat

More FlexPlus info and manual budget calculator.

Though it’s a manual input, I quite like the calculator as it’s customisable.

Must be a staged rollout, I don’t have that “more” section on the bottom menu at all.

It was after an app update and was there for me straight away.

A couple of years ago my local Nationwide had big posters in their window about how the NatWest across the road were closing, and they weren’t.

It too was closed about a year later.

During Covid the Barclays across the road from my local Nationwide closed and there were posters in the window saying that “we aren’t closing branches.”

A year later it had gone. There’s only a Halifax left now.

hang on, now you come to mention it, it was a Barclays that closed, not a NatWest. And there’s only a Halifax left. Are we talking about the same ones at Bakers Arms?

Yep.

in which case, hello neighbour!

I shall watch out for a non-stick Monzo user on my perambulations.

Is ApplePay still displaying their old logo?

So bit the bullet and decided to go full Nationwide. Got paid into my RBS Premier for the last time today and started to replicate my structure of multiple accounts. Once the new debit cards arrive I’ll start the switches.
Shame you have to go to branch to switch your cash isa, but hey at least they have branches am I right?
Now just need to fix the iOS bug and of course app notifications and I’ll be a super happy boy

I, too, just recently switched everything over from Lloyds to Nationwide. I had a nightmare of a time with Lloyds so glad to be moving.

Can I ask, how do you guys that did this manage this and Monzo? Do you use Monzo as your spending account and Nationwide as your main? Or is Monzo just purely a backup/holiday account?

I have two current accounts with Nationwide and one of them was going to be for spending, but if it’s better to do that part with Monzo I might look into that.

Thanks,

Ditched Monzo a long term so I will just have Nationwide once the RBS closes

and that will be your only bank?

I thought that was a dangerous thing to do these days, but to be honest I’ve had a bit of mental overload with banks and credit cards and all sorts lately, so was trying to simplify.

Well… I will be using Zopa as well so always a get out of jail free card. My wife just has a Halifax account and I do wonder sometimes if that is a little dangerous.

Luckily I am paid around the 20th, and these bugs seem to happen at month end… touch wood

I am starting to use nationwide as my spending account but monzo for my direct debits and for spending abroad

Funnily enough I would have done it the other way wrong as I like the instant notifications from Monzo and for me the DD are just set and forget. I put a pot of money aside and have all the DD’s come from that account.

Yeah that would make more sense IMO

I am ok without the notification when you spend but use monzo for my direct debits as you get a few days notice before they are due
