Nationwide Chat

Probably a fan of bulls

If all your bills are paid from the same pot you could have a second current account with Nationwide just for your bills. It would just be called an account, not a pot.

100% this, I now have 4 current accounts with RBS which I use in place of the pots I had with Monzo, if you want a little redundancy then put one or two ‘pots’ with another bank like Nationwide or any of the Lloyds/HSBC group

So the issues continue with Nationwide. I never revived a card reader when I opened the account as the biometrics apparently wasn’t available to me (even though last year they promised by January everyone will be switched over to biometrics rather than use the card reader). I went into branch to pay in money and didn’t have my card. For security she said open the banking app so she wouldn’t have to ask me loads of security questions. I opened it and said there it’s opened. She then started asking me loads of questions, after the 4th question I said I thought I wouldn’t have to be asked these if I opened the app? She said oh sorry it hadn’t showed up on the system. She asked again and so I did and it apparently worked. I said well that was a waste of time wasn’t it - almost as bad as the whole card reader situation which still hadn’t received even though two people over at customer service said they ordered me and should get them within 4 working days. This had been now 6 working days so eventually picked one up in branch. Service used to be top notch but lately everywhere just seems to be “can’t be arsed” attitude. I’ve closed the accounts now inc the credit card. They said they were sorry and offered me a measly £15 for the inconvenience.

I don’t really see what the major issue is? Possibly a slight technical issue with their system but being asked some questions is hardly the end of the world. Nothing there screams “can’t be arsed”. And we don’t really know if the issue with the card reader is Nationwide’s fault. Royal Mail has disappeared from our street these last few days so it sometimes just takes a while for things to get delivered.

Maybe for you this isn’t an issue by my autism and ADHD it’s massive. I’m fixated on time scales and go by what people say. So if someone over the phone promises me it will be with me in 4 days I am fixated on this time scale. Same when someone asks me to do something I do it but if they don’t explain what has happened and still ask loads of security questions about me and my personal details with people standing close to me just sets me off. Not a big deal for some but for me it just sets me off

Fair enough. Can’t say I haven’t found problems with stuff that most people wouldn’t care less about :joy: if it doesn’t work for you personally, that is what matters

Nationwide faceid has been broken for me for the last 4 months! Anyone else experiencing that anytime you try and login, it says service error, until you manually enter your pin?

All fine here

Working fine on my android phone.

My partner and I currently have a joint Nationwide credit card, but only I - as the main account holder - can view the balance and transactions. From what I understand, there’s no way for my partner to access this information directly.

Does anyone know of any credit cards that allow both users to have full visibility of the account, or at least give both access to view transactions and balances?

To my knowledge, there is no such thing as a fully joint credit card, not in the UK anyway. All credit cards are for a single account holder, and the most you can have is ‘additional cardholders’; however, the account holder is always solely responsible for their spending.

My wife and I use a Barclaycard as a joint credit card, and we each have the Barclays app on our respective phones, so we can each access the account as needed.

I don’t mind if one individual is the main account holder I am just looking for the function of both of us being able to see balances and transactions. Obviously Barclaycard allow while Nationwide don’t.

I am not sure if there’s any other providers with this function?

None will ‘allow’ the way I think you mean it. You just need to install and log in to the credit card provider’s app on both phones.

Nationwide only allow the main account holder to view the joint credit card on the app. The additional card holder has no access whatsoever

I might be wrong but doesn’t Amex allow the supplementary cardholder to see their transactions?

Yes it does but I think only their ones not all and not sure about the balance will get my wife to check

That’s right - I’m an supplementary cardholder on my wife’s Amex and only get to see my transactions, not her’s or the balance.

Yes, sorry, I didn’t make my point clear enough.

Barclaycard have an app specific to credit cards, so we have that app installed on both phones and logged in with the same set of credentials (mine - account holder), so the view is exactly the same on both phones.
