They’ve finally updated how the card looks in the app, even if it is to the new design rather than to the design a lot of people will have (with building society, nationwide on it). I do think the branding will grow on me. Even the use of colour is just less boring that all the white and blue.
I wouldn’t put it quite so harshly as the app does work well, just lacks features, but yes, the app itself hasn’t changed apart from the new logo and card.
Not popular on Facebook at the moment (but what it, they’ll complain about anything), however, I do see their point. Looking quickly at it, the colours aren’t too dissimilar to Natwest. Although, I am struggling to see how it looks like a bird’s face.
Although I think it is still meant to be a house and a tree, to me, it kinda looks like pac man eating a house.

Don’t know why yours is so slow. Mine is max 10 seconds, although I do use the fingerprint rather than the passcode. How is the inside dated? Yes, it doesn’t have the features but it works and looks perfectly well. The navigation really isn’t bad. Everything is where I’d expect it to be and I’ve never had an issue finding anything.
They’ve already confirmed the card reader isn’t gone, but I genuinely can’t remember the last time I used it considering they let you get a one-time password now through text for a lot of stuff.
I was talking about it from a cold start. It has never taken me anywhere near 30 seconds to get onto it. And the pages load very quickly. Either you have an incredibly short memory, or there is something wrong with your phone.
We’ll have to agree to disagree about the design.

They’ve also done pretty much everything possible to hide they are a building society rather than a bank. Even their new slogan makes it seem like they are just a normal bank. I know in practise it doesn’t mean much, but considering how much their previous branding pushed that they were a building society, it seems a bit odd.

It is a terrible logo, but I’d be very worried if the sun was that big and close to the house!
I hate it when companies try to modernise their well recognised logos and make them worse. In the original colour scheme, when the Nationwide merged with the Anglia in 1987 and launched the logo, the round bit was green, so it was obviously a tree. When they changed it to blue, they confused what it represented. They’ve made it even more confusing with the new update.

I think this is one of the few rebrands where the more I look at it, the more I dislike it. Even the logo not starting with a capital letter is annoying me.
New card design is now in Google Wallet.

There doesn’t seem to be any change to the app functionality. E.g. you still cannot see the transaction reference! This is such a basic and important feature that I don’t understand how they are the only ones that do not show it.

I just think the new branding just looks bland and that they’ve lost all the character the branding had (and it didn’t exactly have much to begin with). It is modern, but a bland modern that doesn’t really represent anything anymore. No one seems to know what the logo is, the font has become a basic, bland font that any brand could be using, and they aren’t even differentiating themselves as a building society. Even the colours are similar to Natwest.

The logo just isn’t working for me anymore either. I either see a group of random shapes, one of which is pacman, or the bird.
When I first looked at the rebrand, I thought it was pretty good, but I think I’ve started to hate it now. Please Nationwide! Change it back!
