Had issue in Spain using card for rental deposit as my name wasn’t on the front - no matter how many times I suggested they just type my name in to the box.
Sorry about that 
Next time ask them to write your name, even if the card doesn’t have it they can just use your name and it should be enough (be sure you’ve signed it though).
