This is a great read from Andrew Chen around how Performance Marketing can so easily go wrong and how it can contribute to bankruptcy if not done properly. But also how it can be a very good driver of stable growth for a company.
Today is the last day to ask the Tiramisu master questions
As an Italian @vittorio.boccanera - are you offended by my nation taking pizza and deep frying it regularly?
To add to that, what are your thoughts about pineapple on pizza?
I don’t reply to blasphemy. <3
To be honest, if the pizza tastes good, I’d say not at all. I’m a big fan of trying different methodologies of cooking traditional foreign plates if they taste good! Just don’t call it pizza, it’s fried bread with tomato and cheese (usually not mozzarella) on top ![]()
Having said that, I like Dominos, I like Pizza Hut… They are just a different take on a big “crostone”, not a pizza. If you don’t know “crostone”, which is a big “crostino”, Google it
If you ever go to tuscany, order them as an apetizer
It’s the equivalent of putting ketchup on pasta. Why?
Oooh I didn’t realise ketchup was in that list!
I have been known to do that! (The next day, to add a bit of extra freshness
)
Just got nausea
Why are you trying to ruin my Friday?
What about when I add more chilli sauce the next day, is that better?
I’m against pineapple on pizza if that helps?
You just lost 100 points.
You just gained 100000000 points.
To bring this back and have a proper question…
What’s something you do at Monzo that you’d implement if you worked somewhere else?
Next you’ll be telling me that you didn’t know you’re not supposed to put cream in carbonara. Or pancetta.
lol
Great question.
- The support you get from your colleagues to figure out complicated problems.
- Monzo’s mission and centrality of it - although I do think there are companies that do this better.
- The most important thing I’d want to take to another company is the SLT (Senior Leadership Team) and their sense of 1. direction 2. clairty in communication 3. flatness of hierarchy. They always make time for anyone in the company regardless of seniority. I love this.
