Monzo Premier Account - What and Why?

So the always popular and not at all contentious Big Poll has Monzo Premier account for those that meet certain criteria as the top pick (currently, at least).

Which had me wondering: what would a Monzo Premier account look and feel like? What would differentiate it? What would the criteria be?

24/7 Live chat support, as well as a 7am - 10pm dedicated phone support line (With 24/7 lost cards and emergencies phone support)

Preferential interest rates

Monzo Max w/ Family benefits as default (plus extra benefits)

Exclusive Metal/Plastic card depending on user choice

Lower investment fees (with more options as well)

I think a lot of those are for a paid account but not premier.

To me, premier accounts focus less on the physical gimmicks and more on the personal relationships, investments, high level accounts, high balances with perhaps some kind of exclusive services (concierge, top level hotel/airline status etc) and a classy looking card (usually black in colour or something).

None of it fits Monzo’s ethos to me, but then I suppose there will be “new money” in the future where Monzo will have been a part of their lives so who knows!

I’d just like the old Monzo basically. A nice black card would be decent :slight_smile:

Also not a silly criteria amount for the premier.

Max but for free if you meet the criteria, so never happening.

I think in order for you to be able a premier service, you need to have a top notch free service first, which Monzo do not.

You can have great and then paid for is amazing. But not average and then you pay for great.

*Edit - Extra for free would be good if you pay in £x, direct debits etc.Still unlikely as Monzo don’t want give away what people pay for, but might entice more “full” Monzo.

I’d personally like to see better and possibly included travel insurance, actual live chat and a phone line, and better credit card options.

I’d be happy enough with:

  • Features from extra
  • Interest rates from perks/max
  • Lower fees for investments/pension (would have to be lower than perks/max as they’re still pretty high)
  • Black card
  • No upsells in the app

I personally wouldn’t use monzo to invest as its just blackrock. Maybe if they had more options.

Always smacks me as super niche product, that I don’t know how you make the sums add up with the features asked for

Good point, I’d forgotten it was just a choice of 3 risk levels.
To be honest I’d be unlikely to switch anyway as all my investments are in an InvestEngine ISA so hard to beat 0% fees
