Monzo Plus – you asked us to make it simpler, so we’ve created bundles

Even just how they advertise them is an area that’s regulated too. Hope they’re reading up on that!

It is somewhat like a loot box as you will be getting random swag, randomly at random intervals, or, judging by that a lot of original £3 a month plus customers didn’t get swag that was promised is like getting unlucky box  But the card draw is like those EA tactics - buy our box and you will get some random swag aka loot AND if you are really lucky you can get a rare drop - Metal Card.

EDIT: Just wanted to clarify that by “loot box”, in this comparison, I mean 1 month subscription interval and “buying a loot box” means paying monthly fee for the subscription interval.

Thanks for reminding me. Northern Irish customers need to be provided a free route of entry

Wonder if they’ll position it as “swag” with the new supporter bundle. Not mention “lucky draw” and just say it’s randomly selected swag

Don’t know if that would be allowed

Legal will be able to sort it, I’m not fully sure of the rules

If you buy all three bundles but you have the gambling block turned on, are you still in with a chance of winning a metal card?

Not exactly how it works

If you buy all three packages, you are guaranteed to get a metal card, provided, that you get the bundles within a limited, completely unspecified time period, also, you will get that guaranteed card at a later, unspecified date, when the cards are going to be produced, which they currently are not. So from the lack of cards I can only extrapolate, that the current “Supporter” pack metal card draw rate is 0, because even a 100% chance of getting a card out of 0 cards available is still 0.

They said that if you get all 3 bundles you’ll be eligible for one of the first metal cards. Think they said they hoped to get it out by the end of this month from what it sounded like at the event and

All this talk of swag and loot boxes seems to be ungainly speak for a bank.

First, Mondo was innovative and it gained interest (doesn’t give it anymore  ) and many customers but other banks are catching up.

These terms used are not particularly business-like and strike me as flippant and casual. Not the sort of qualities I desire in a bank.

Is this what the marketeers think customer want?

There’s innovation. There’s disruption but this just sounds immature.

I agree. When I responded, I actually only ranked those features I felt were at all useful - to make it clear that the remainder were of no relevance to me.

Only 6 quid on eBay for a custom t-shirt. May as well save yourself the subscription. Stickers and plenty of other stuff available for a few quid.

Exactly, I don’t want nor care about swag and loot boxes I want an app that works, I want merchant data to be fixed once and for all, I want true 100% 24/7 customer services like they advertise with none of this wait time rubbish that has been described on here and I want the Marketplace we were all promised. There is more but it’s too early

Look at what Monzo wanted to be in 2016/7 and look at them now…

Agree completely. Something’s gone horribly wrong. This forum would be mocking mercilessly the likes of NatWest, HSBC, etc if they were doing anything like this.

The fact that Monzo have orchestrated a situation where people would want swag is impressive for a bank. NatWest and HSBC would rightly be mocked for introducing swag, they don’t have the brand or relationship with their customers to do so.

Also, I have no issue with the terminology what so ever, why do you feel banks have to talk in a specific way to be professional, is it because that’s how it’s always been done?

For what it’s worth, yesterday we changed all mentions of “swag” to “merch”, parlty based on your feedback.

I didn’t mind swag as I think many people sees Monzo as more than a bank. I feel people got upset by it because they subscribed and didn’t receive swag? I requested and received it in the end though.

No one at monzo has mentioned the term lootbox! It feels like people mentioned how it might possibly be like a lootbox and now for some reason a whole bunch of people are getting angry that monzo are using the term lootbox. They haven’t!!
