Monzo Plus – you asked us to make it simpler, so we’ve created bundles

I’ve struggled for years to find a company that serves my banking needs and incorporates a loot box element. Thanks Monzo!

(Oh the irony of this coming from a bank proud of the gambling block…)

What made me cringe most was “We’re proud of what we’ve created”.
Personally I would not be proud of the mess of a product they’ve created

No I totally get your point. My point being they effectively led people on that things were coming and then dropped them after people had paid for a few months with no notice and no prior communication

Well I found the event good and they handled it well. It’s clear that it’s a product that’s evolving. Cancel if you want to now which makes sense if it’s not for you right now or carry on into the new one but know that it’s a changing product.

I don’t feel that bad about the event to be honest. I get that Monzo just wants to change direction for Monzo Plus.

It’s very early days and we as Monzo Plus customers have joined an evolving product that’s still yet to find its feet.

The bad feeling it seems to me has come from us feeling like what we signed up to wasn’t going to fundamentally change, just grow.

Again, I think Monzo could have handled that better when they announced how it would change. The tone was off for me. Far too positive! With exclamation marks! When in reality, it pissed a lot of people off as it was a very big change from what was originally planned.

Anyway. I’m happy to see what comes next for Monzo plus. I feel like they did a good job tonight in sharing where they see it going.

I want Monzo to make sure that they do engage with the community when they test out ideas still.
When you look at the size of this thread, it only goes to prove how much we all are invested (not just financially) in Monzo.

I want Monzo plus to evolve into something even better and I’d still like to be involved and engaged in that journey somehow.

Agree with your points. But you can’t really go into a customer facing event and be negative - otherwise it’ll just set the tone for people to be negative and not listen to the points they wanted to make :ok_hand:t2:

Monzo Plus v2.0 is fundamentally different from Monzo Plus v1.0.

Those who signed up to Monzo Plus v1.0 were expecting 1.1, 1.2 etc

So, not a plustomer, but, if I’m hearing this right, original customers were paying to go to an “exclusive” event where they could be told that what they were paying for was no longer viable :open_mouth:?

Did they mention the odds on the loot box metal card?

There was 82 live viewers on YouTube, and 240 YouTube views so far and that is out of almost 3 million customers. So in a way, there’s no REAL reason for Monzo to really care about what we think, as 99.9% of their customer base will never know what happened and HOW it happened. And I can actually understand Monzo on this, but they can’t just straight up tell us we don’t matter anymore, hence the appearance of them no listening to us.

But this is the classic cycle of start up. They truly care about the niche customer (us) in the beginning to get off the ground. Then they half listen to us, but then when they get a critical mass of customers they have to change to appeal to the common Joe (no offence to any Joe) so they CAN’T afford to listen to their niche customer base from the first faze anymore.

EDIT: But they can sure milk their most loyal fans with “Supporter” bundle :slight_smile:

I get that but if thats the case, this forum really has served its purpose as no feedback given here will ever shape another Monzo product in the future.

I wouldn’t go that far but the new direction has been decided. It’ll now be seen through, regardless of whether we all cancel, provide alternative feedback. It is what it is.

It’s the Plus experiment. Which in my view needs a massive BETA label on it, and a explanation saying what BETA means.

To be fair, other teams seem to actually listen to the community, it’s really just the plus team that appear to have been deaf to us.

Actually if you watch the video closely you’ll notice that actually nothing has been decided, they have no clue where they are heading. They don’t even know what’s going to happen in a couple of months.

So chances are, Beta Plus Version 3.0 will be completely alien to version 2.0 :slight_smile:

What’s crazy to me is the comments about card quality. They have a stock of cards that they know are bad quality, but are still sending them out? What?
