Iām a little more interested than I was in monzo plus now, still want to see more detail on confirmed offerings before I sign up though
On joint accounts, I get that it may be difficult to transfer some of the benefits to a joint account but what if a discount could be offered to both parties of the same joint account if they both sign up?
There seems to be a bit of confusion over the £3 pricing.
Initially, I was under the impression it was positioned as⦠āWe feel the offer of a custom card, invite to events/swag and custom URL are worth Ā£3⦠Weāll be adding more to it later, which will bring the price to Ā£6ā.
That makes sense to me. The Ā£3 is worth it for the fans, and when the ācore offeringā includes some useful bits to other people, the price would be reflected in the Ā£6 per month.
But this post below, seems to indicate otherwise.
Perhaps itās just the wording, but an āearly birdā offer would indicate itās an offer to those who get in there early, but the product will actually be the same (think Kickstarter or other crowdfunding sites).
If Monzo end up pricing this current package (events, URL and Card) at £6⦠non negotiable⦠I fear that it will definitely be too expensive when you tag on the other items.
I wouldnāt worry about this! I doubt weāll increase from Ā£3 to Ā£6 for a while longer yet. You can see above that we said at least another week, not only another week
I think it would be fine to change it tomorrow, as long as more value was added as standard.
Itās more the implication that actually, Monzo have indeed priced the current offering at Ā£6 per month, but are currently discounting it to Ā£3 as an early bird offerā¦
Will the £6 per month definitely include more value, or will it simply be what we have now, but at £6 instead of £3?
I think my concern would be that Monzo have priced the current offering at £6 per month, so any future add ons will take that into account.
Most people would probably price whatās currently on offer at Ā£0 to them, so we could potentially be fighting an up hill battle with this non negotiable Ā£6ā¦
I hope Iām wrong, and that for Ā£6 there will be a load more benefit, and this current offering will feel like a nice extra bonus, rather than a core part of the deal.
My thinking is that whilst some of the stuff might make it into the core offering, the majority will be a paid for extra.
Will be interesting if things like deposit interest and metal cards make it to the core offering (we already know the insurances will be an extra cost).
If they break it down and make it really modular, long as the price is right, it could work for more people.
I donāt hold a large balance in my Monzo account (it gets moved to the relevant savings accounts with higher interest), so if I could save money on Plus by not having this feature, that would be great.
I donāt know what the cheapest āmetalā offering is right now, but I think itās Revoluts Ā£13 per month is one of the cheapest (cheaper than N26).
Iād be very surprised if Monzo offered a metal card for anything less, unless they priced it as a Ā£4 per month add on, just for the card (which would give you the core offering, whatever that is, plus Metal for Ā£10 per month).
True but with revolut and N26 they both offer other services with the monthly payment. So maybe if its only metal cards and interest then it could bring the costs down ?
Yeah, thatās why I said about the metal card on itās own being a Ā£4 add on - But these packaged accounts work for banks because they can bundle high and low margin products together.
The high margin for Monzo is already in their core package, so maybe they can surprise us all and churn out some great value add ons.
I love a metal card, but would I pay £48 per year for it?.. Probably not
I think itās more the fact that the interest will āeaseā the monthly payments.
NW Flex costs £13 per month, but the interest on a full balance of £2,500 cuts that in half (at least it used to).
So in the end, you are paying £6/7 for the rest of the benefits (which are great).
Of course, you could argue that you are also losing out on the interest that the £2500 per month would get you elsewhere⦠But this is likely quite small anyway.
I think the answer was āno, not at this stageā⦠But I canāt find where that was said.
Iām disappointed virtual cards are going to be a part of this. Theyāve been discussed since the very early days of Mondo as an example of modern security practice.
Iām less worried about scam website than I am about legitimate badly developed ones leaking my card details.
