I think two things that were very clever by Monzo;
- having a 3 month minimum term - gets people over the line of “oh it’s a short commitment, why not”
- needing a new card when you cancel - adds a factor of “oh I can’t be bothered updating everything, I’ll cancel it next month”.
I do wonder how the general user base approach it vs us on the forum.
Will be interesting to see what happens in 5 weeks anyway.
