Surely if that was the case it would be worthwhile taking a list of sort codes and storing them internally?
Not only will it help with fraud but it gives a more professional feel
Have just enabled Merge Payees in Labs. Just a note, clicking on the feed item to “find out more” doesn’t do anything. Using latest Android Beta
The merge feature is great. What would make it even better is if we can rename payees. The merge feature doesn’t recognise two people as being the same, so it would be nice if I could rename them in order for them to be merged as one.

Great feature. Is there a refresh issue? After merging the account list for the merged contact shows up as empty until you click on home to leave the contact list and then go back to the list. It was a bit confusing as I thought I had lost the account details. Otherwise, Great.

Just used this Merge Payee feature today for the first time, and love it.
No issues and seems good, just a shame its been hidden on Labs for a long time now with now TLC
Heya, so I am having one hell of a neanderthal moment on this.
Can someone please tell me what merge payees is for?
Maybe I’m just over thinking it, and landing on some small star cluster, somewhere near alpha centauri!
For a start its only available in labs for android at the moment.
And it basically allows you to merge two of your payees from the payments page into one contact/payee.
That way you could have a friends bank accounts listed under the one contact

Even after adding an account number to a payee, when receiving payments from said person, the name displayed on my statement does not come through in the same format (i.e. instead of ‘John Smith’ it would come through as ‘SMITH J’, for example).
Could this be fixed so that Monzo would be able to identify bank accounts that have been added to you contacts to ensure that you statement looks flawless and streamlined, not to mention easier to track and group payments?
Merging deleted my payee. Hmmm. 
Did the same for me too now I can’t manually add it like I did with another payee.
