That’s thousands and thousand of people. And probably costs more than the price of a share
Not exactly free money though is it. There’s still the costs associated from production through to delivery. Even farming it out to a 3rd party would involve money.
Has anyone other than Compare the Market successfully made selling plushies part of their business plan?
Anyone who has spent more than a little time on Kickstarter, for example, can understand how perks that haven’t been fully thought through can be crippling to the business. The number of times I’ve had a project update where they say “So many people ordered this perk that it’s now costing us money… so everything is delayed, but we will deliver eventually!”…
I mean, I’d quite like a Hot Chip plushie. But I can understand why Monzo aren’t rushing to make then available to all.
They took months to arrive as well but regardless they stopped doing this a long while ago. Plus you couldn’t buy them outright, it was only if you went through them to buy something (i.e. insurance).
They just do the discount on meals and movies now.
I had an insurance premium with them that was supposed to come with the soft toy, it was going for decent money on eBay at the time, but it never arrived and they ignored my complaints
Plushies for Plus and Premium Customers would be a great idea
If the Monzo marketing team want to leverage the beauty of this creation to their advantage without risk of overly cartooning or trivialising the gradually maturing brand, or pivoting from banking to toy selling, they should consider auctioning some off and donating the proceeds to a relevant charity (Take their partnership with The Big Issue to a new level?). I’d bid £100 if the proceeds of the sale of this beauty went to charity!
Also, Hot Chip NFTs please!
Let’s not
Fun bit of context as to why we shut down the Monzo Shop:
Unfortunately this is one of those things that doesn’t scale very nicely. Selling swag is a nice thing to do, but it got to a point where there had to be entire business processes signed off with risks documented, controls in place, and all sorts of associated admin.
Still, there’s always the possibility of plushie competitions and giveaways…
I can’t even get a plushie and I work for Monzo
Would getting a Hot Chip tattoo make you eligible for a Hot Chip plushie in the theoretical plushie giveaway? Asking for a friend
Is it trademarked ?
Think we’ll have to make our own batch.
Did someone say plushie, it’s just arrived. Requested one month’s ago, was thinking what’s the postie got for me.
Haha nice!
I’m really impressed with mine, they’re amazing quality. With it being a free marketing tool I expected it to be lightly stuffed and a bit tacky but it’s jam packed and nice and soft too
Hmmm - I don’t have instagram - This might finally push me over the edge to signing up!
Nice! The massive un-marked box is a real surprise when it arrives!
They are very good quality.
After my Constantine little side-project, it was reclaimed and is now in one of the kids bedrooms
PS> spotted. It’s November… Humbug.
You won’t be eligible to win, sorry Theo!
To save you picking me and messing me on instagram, my DMs are open on here
I just submitted my resignation letter - am I now eligible @cookywook?
