Monzo app won’t open on iOS

Issue: The Monzo App won’t open.

Details to reproduce: Click on the icon and the splash page opens for a second and then crashes immediately. Deleting the app, restarting the phone and reinstalling it does not work
OS: iOS
Device: iPhone 8 Plus
App Version: 4.55.0

Hi, this is already reported here:

Monzo are aware and working on a fix.

When you get stuck in this loop, it’s very tricky for a user to try to troubleshoot and fix, even when they know what they’re doing.

What worked for me was to install an older version of the app through TestFlight. Another managed to get it fixed with a more convoluted process, but all the details are in that thread I’ve linked to if you have a quick read through some of the more recent posts.

What iOS are you using as older versions mean less apps being available

Thanks for the reply all! I’m using the latest iOS version. I’m back in but needed to do a full factory reset on the phone.

I just updated my phone (iPhone13 Pro Max) will iOS 16.1.1 and my app is replicating this problem of opening and crashing

Hi! Welcome! As above, Monzo are aware and are working on it. I’m sure they’ll share the fix with us when they have one. For now it’s just going to be a case of trial and error with the various troubleshooting tips outlined in the other thread linked to above I’m afraid. :pensive:

I hope a fix is near. It’s been going on for far too long now, and if anything seems to be getting worse, not better.

Hi, I can also reproduce the issue. Any workarounds? Wondering why this issue doesn’t have higher priority given the fact that the bank has no agency and people’s money get stuck if the app crashes.

I can understand how frustrating this may be but your only option is to call Monzo and complain or to move banks (if you rely on Monzo day to day)
