Mobile Networks

You don’t need to think about the brand at all. Even the SIM is shown to be Vodafone UK rather than voxi.

Talkmobile doesn’t have any EE access do they? They’re owned by Vodafone

You’re right.

I’m confused with Talk Home

I’m jealous you can tell the difference. I have a pair of Beoplay H95s and at home in the quiet I can barely tell the difference between AAC and ALAC (whether that’s over USB-C, aptX HD - and even then I’m not sure if it’s placebo). Certainly can’t tell the difference when the ANC is competing with background noise.

I would normally agree with you but in instances where folk are in contracts for 12-36 months it really isn’t that simple.

I checked O2 for coverage - it states 5G almost everywhere I go. My phone says 5G. I am not getting 5G speeds. It’s hard to actually get out of any contracts so I can’t just vote with my feet.

I’ve never enjoyed the sound quality of Spotify tbf, Apple Music has always sounded slightly better to me.

Getting out of a contract is one of those things that’s easier said than done. I had the exact same problem with Three quite some years ago, and they wouldn’t let me out early.

It was a SIMO plan so ended up just taking out another contract and letting that one expire, but I still resent paying for 6 months of something I didn’t ever use.

That’s because they rolled out low band (800mhz crap) not the mid band (3400-3600mhz) that you see from Three and EE.

Really cheap move from O2 to say hi we have the most bla bla. While it is 5G, it’s not what we expect from 5G in the real world.

Have you ever done this? It’s insanely hard. Even if I screenshot every time my data runs slow there will be a mast somewhere nearby that “is being worked on” or you’ll be asked to send an image of speeds at the time you complain which inevitably will work fine. I’ve been told that any speed over something like 1Mb/s is acceptable regardless of the “G” my phone states I’m on and even then speeds drop out randomly and come back making it impossible to capture and evidence it.

It shouldn’t be my job to be recording speeds of my network all the time. I never, ever, ever did this on EE.

I also think a thread about mobile networks is perfectly fine to moan about… mobile networks. Most of this should hopefully be putting people off joining…

I know you weren’t referring to me but I’m out the door.

Switching to Three as o2 are worse then dog :poop:.

£45 Quidco on an £8 a month contract will do for me.

I guess mute the topic? Not sure. I just scroll past any posts I’m not interested in.

Or vote with your feet and don’t come to the topic

That’s more tongue in cheek ofc.

As much as I have been trying to vote with my feet and leave O2, they are not budging at all. That’s with making a formal complaint, as well as complaining to them every month since January, logging network issues on the My Network app, which is all on record. They seem to have now also put a note on my account to say no more compensation will be given for network issues.

Not sure whether to escalate to the ombudsman or not. The only other thing I can do is put the rest of the device plan I need to pay off on a credit card and then leave. It’s just a lot to pay in one go.

Complaining isnt just about telling someone you’re unhappy, its about providing every little incident along the journey to the business, to really push through the level of inconvience this has on you day by day.

The more you’re able to share, the more likely it is you’ll get a favourable outcome.

If you just go in and say Facebook won’t load your network is :poop: I want out, immediately you have someone’s back up and they’re likely gonna say well tough luck.

But you express something in a way they can really understand, and essentially feel your pain, those are the types you have a better chance of winning.

The website is shabby and dated I give you that

Never had an issue though.

As for Lyca, looks like their website has had a bit of a tidy up so maybe esim will come back.

As someone who needed support twice I can tell.you Lyca is absolute trash.

There was an esim issue followed by them fecking up my number transfer which left me unable to to use my phone for a week.

They are cheap sure but by extension everything else with Lyca is cheap as well, i.e quality, support,. customer service ect

Virtual card linked to a fund managed pot? It is partly what that was built for!

That’s when you use a one time virtual card, pay for it and then remove the card.

Lebara works a treat at my resort in Kos, absolutely faultless. Uses Vodafone GR.

O2 however, not so great, was perfect in the airport and Kardamena, running Cosmote GR.
