M&S contactless - strange behaviour

I used my (Beta) card at M&S today using contactless for <£10. It was refused but accepted when using chip & PIN. When I looked at my account later I saw that the initial attempt had been debited to my account, credited back and then the chip & PIN debit applied. Net net I am OK but wondered whether this was an M&S issue or something at Mondo and if anyone else had experienced this.

Hmm that’s weird! We’ll keep an eye on it – the card networks can be quite obtuse :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ve seen it recently too; I was at my local Co-op (which I use regularly with my Mondo card), my second attempt with chip and pin worked fine:
