I’ve replaced my card twice this year cuz it won’t like to Apple Pay it was suggested but failed.
Will keep an eye on the card topic and hopefully someone will get one
Wonder if resetting my phone via DFU may allow it to work via Apple Pay again?

I ordered a new one this week and it was still the current design. RIP.
Much prefer the app opening on the Summary tab instead of the Everyday tab.
I opened a Lloyds account last week but was told yesterday they are closing the account. Fraud team state I don’t meet their criteria after being passed around 8 times in their call centre. I then put a complaint in with how they dealt with my account as they froze my money and couldn’t transfer out . Lloyds wouldn’t send me a cheque either and said I had to go into branch with ID. My branch is over an hour away. I complained about their process and they gave me £30 for inconvenience of going to a branch. I went to branch after them saying the money would be there in 2 hours . I got there just to find out no money could go in or out of the account. Had to call again and because the branch didn’t have a manager they couldn’t give me the money. After them finally calling through to a manager to authorise the withdrawal I finally got the money out. Whilst I was there two other people were also complaining because their accounts were locked. One tried making a holiday booking and her account was locked and the other tried buying something online. I told them both to switch because clearly their system needs work.
I wonder if it’s anything to do with me having all three of their accounts, Lloyds, Halifax and bank of Scotland? I dunno - but I’ve closed all three. Don’t trust this brand anymore
On the newly opened account what kind of activity was happening?
Unlikely. I have all three. Zero issues.
More likely something to do with this
Seems odd. There’s got to be more to this. What have you done with your account when open? If they opened one they would have completed checks via your credit report so it has to be something you’ve done since.
Same - it’s not an unusual thing to do, especially north of the border.
Not done anything. Paid money in from Monzo and that’s about it. My credit score is fair and no issues. oh well. Got a first direct account back and also their gold card. Just wanted a bricks and mortar bank for my savings (plus like to have a credit card with the same bank I have an account with so it’s all in one place) lol
They might not like the extreme account shuffle you seem to be constantly going through.
To be fair, years back Barclays closed my account all a sudden and the only payment I made to it was £800 from Monzo.
This was 2018. Was never allowed an account since until lately, which is a 6 year window.
Barclays have never got over monzo, even now there’s incompatibility.
Can’t imagine it’s the same given the time gone by and I’ve never had a problem with Lloyds.
RBS and NatWest closed my accounts without notice in 2018. No reason was given, but I suspect it was because I kept using the accounts to get switching offers elsewhere. I had to visit a branch to get my money back but, fortunately, at that time I still had an RBS branch nearby. They also told me not to try and open any accounts with them in future as they would just be closed.
I did try again a couple of years ago, but I got an instant rejection as soon as I put my name and address in.
Savage.
Might be a trend that 6 years needs to pass like mine.
I’m always moving accounts but I always do it manually. I have only used the switching service once and as a consequence I am not able to reopen with Barclays without an appointment.
I need to stop really.
Same. Frustrates the hell out of me.
Not even sure why I do it. Makes no difference financially by any means other than “let’s shuffle”.
Perhaps it’s an addiction? You could set up a support group, Switchers Anonymous.
Definitely something.
Some personality trait gone wrong somewhere happens with most aspects in my life.
Attention span of a 5yo.
I’ve had this with Lloyds too. After opening my accounts they loaded me onto National Hunter for three years, citing too many accounts opened at my address, in a short period.
I made the grave mistake of opening a current account and three savings accounts within a few days. (Two regular savers and a standard saver).
I complained, as the NHunter loading had an impact on account applications elsewhere. My compaint wasn’t about the account closures as they were entitled to do. But I felt the NHunter loading was unfair, as the policy they had at the time allowed for 5 savings accounts at one time. Of course the complaint was declined.
I always wondered how these types of actions are compatible with their CMA obligations. Its not unusual for a bank to breach one regulation in order to adhere to another.
NH does seem unfair when there’s nothing proven as being fraudulent going in
That does seem extreme, Lloyds advertise using savings accounts like pots and allow you to rename them accordingly. You can only have 5 open with them.
Looking up details about national hunter, articles suggest they flag the activity, rather than the banks.
I am always switching between banks but I never close the accounts or use the bank switching service.
I’m currently using Lloyds, I really like the face lifted app but I was using HSBC. HSBC is pretty plain and simple but quite effective and clear.
