It is odd that they won’t pay you the switching bonus for upgrading an existing account to Club Lloyds.
At one time, they’d pay out for switching into an existing Club Lloyds account.
I’ve had three switching bonuses from Lloyds. The first time when I opened the account, and the other two times for further switches into it.
It varies each time. Same with Halifax (when they used to run them anyway, been a while now). Sometimes existing accounts are eligible, sometimes existing account holders are eligible but a new account must be opened.
You clearly shouldn’t be charged until you have access to actually manage the account. I can’t be the first person to ever open an account on or near the 2nd of the month. Even the Lloyd’s staff member was confused so it obviously isn’t supposed to happen.
Not least it was for 77p. Makes no sense.
I haven’t done a Halifax switch admittedly but I’ve never seen a current customer have to open a brand new account in the same bank to access to reward. Still find it odd.
I already have two Lloyds current accounts, one is a club Lloyds that I’ve been meaning to cancel for a while
Been pondering switching over to Lloyds, do I have to open a third current account to take advantage of this offer? Saw a post earlier here from someone who opened 3 savings accounts and then had them all closed and wasn’t welcome back, so a little cautious
You have the whole calendar month to be eligible for the fee waiver the following month.
Remember their aim is to get people to use this as their only/main current account, with that £2k coming from salary… a minority of people are paid on the 1st working day of the month, in fact I’ve never heard of it. The most common frequencies I know of are around every xth thursday/friday, 28th (or last working day before) or last working day of the month - z working days.
Called and explained > transferred to wallet pay > explained again > transferred to wallet pay because they weren’t wallet pay > asked if I’m through to wallet pay > no, they’ll transfer me to wallet pay.
It is owed, I have no qualms with that. I just think it should be something they consider that as a brand new customer I cannot manage my account until they allow it.
Also I didn’t really challenge it, I just asked what the amount was and he said 77p. He said he was putting a complaint in for me and put £10 in the account - I just didn’t argue with it!
I still cannot figure out, even pro-rata, how you get to 77p.
Doesn’t work that way with me. If I don’t put the £2000 in on the 1st, they charge £3 on the 2nd. If I put £2000 in later the same month, it’s refunded.
