Lloyds Banking Group Chat

@Lightning720 Will at least not get another huawei phone

This one isn’t to do with just my phone. It’s an issue with the Play Store, which I explained in the 2nd comment (At least this has revealed none of you really read the comments you are replying to ).

I did! :+1:

Let’s hope they sort it soon.

The Halifax app is showing in my Play Store (v27.1.14-21) though I already have the app installed.

And at least this has revealed that my memory is terrible because I read and liked your other comment.

I’m not bothered because I don’t have an account with Halifax (just opened one with Lloyds instead of Chase), but I was asking because I saw people on other places having the same problem.

How strange!

The Halifax and Lloyds apps are usually virtually identical and share a common code base.

They update them at the same time usually, so you would think if it was a Play Store listing issue it would have affected both?

I don’t know all of the details of the issue but that might be why you can see it. At least Halifax have confirmed that it is an issue with the Play Store and it will be fixed.

They have both been updated today as well so it is strange it is only impacting Halifax’s app.

Very strange indeed!

My Halifax app is working fine.

Huawei P30 Pro

It seems to be if you already have the app, it works fine but there is an issue with being able to download it from the Play Store.

I have an old Honor 10 from 2018 and Halifax isn’t showing there. How odd.

Just got access to the Lloyds app today and I really like it. It seems to function really well and I even decided to upgrade my account to Club Lloyds. I transferred £1450 to my Lloyds account, but the issues started when I tried to transfer the money back to my Santander account.

The transaction was blocked and I was told to call their fraud team. No big deal, I thought. I called them. Told them all the information they needed and they said I should be able to try the transaction again.

It was blocked again. The agent was confused and did more things behind the scenes. She told me to try again. I did. It was blocked, again.

However, this time, the agent said I would have to wait 24 hours to try again and that she didn’t know what the issue is.

I thought no biggie, I don’t need the money in my Santander account until around 2 weeks into the future. However, I was alarmed to see that my login details were suspended and that I couldn’t log into mobile or online banking.

I called their fraud team back. I gave them the necessary information and explained the situation. The agent unblocked my account and let me try the transaction again. It was blocked, for the 4th time.

The agent had no idea what the issue was. There were no flags on my account. She ended up having to fill out a form to give to another team to try to get the transaction through. Apparently, it was a very rare case of the system not liking the transaction and I have done nothing wrong.

I have got access to my account at least and apparently the other team will be in touch whenever they have done what they are meant to be doing.

All in all, it is an annoyance but both agents were very friendly and helpful, and seemed just as confused as me as to why it wouldn’t work. I like the Lloyds app and whilst their fraud system have been way too extreme in my case, it is meant to be very rare so hopefully shouldn’t happen again. I’m definitely going to stick with Lloyds as I was actually impressed with the customer service, despite the fact they couldn’t fix my problem.

I was blocked moving money in and out of Santander to hit the £1k limit but it was resolved in one call :sunglasses:

I understand why banks do it, however, if it’s going back to the same account it came from it shouldn’t be an issue.

I guess with the FCA behind everyone’s bottoms over fraud and money laundering they are over cautious.

Lloyds are generally pretty efficient, though I am biased as I’m staff (another brand though) :joy:

I bounced mine round in £400 chunks. No issues.

Think a grand is the limit?

I like the Lloyd’s app too. Nice and neat imo.

I’m definitely going to do it in smaller instalments in the future. Hopefully it doesn’t take them too long to sort the issue out so my money can be transferred back to Santander.

You can make transfers of multiple thousands of pounds (or are supposed to be able to, fraud flags permitting)!

Yeah I know.

I think I phrased my post wrong.

I was speculating that their algorithm appears to be triggered at four figures for some reason.

It’s OTT imo, but more banks appear to be doing it, especially on newly opened accounts.

I understand why they would want to be more cautious on newly opened accounts so I understand why the fraud system blocked the transaction the first time. I’ve never heard of the fraud team being unable to stop the system blocking it, especially for £1450 which isn’t that much so it clearly is just an error somewhere in the system.

It’s to prevent money laundering, though it should be a little smarter if it’s going back to the same account it came from.
