In the app, tap the envelope icon top left then see if transaction notifications are enabled there.

Waiting for the frauds to happen to have a need to call and complain for more money.

What do you suggest I do then? Ā£0 in the account? I just don’t want accounts closed for inactivity, that’s all.

It’s not a thing except HSBC/fd.

Also, if they die off due to inactivity did you need them in the first place?

Why does this have to be so ugly.

I hadn’t considered this.

Ok, I’ll take all the money out of all my accounts aside from the ones I’m not actively using (Nationwide and Monzo).

Probably a controversial take, but I don’t hate it. At least you get an icon unlike plaintext in Nationwide or a :left_arrow://:right_arrow: from co-op.

I’d give them a call about the green blobs.

Because it’s Lloyds, who specialises in being the ugly, buggy, legacy high street bank, disguised as a so called fintech.

Stop worrying about it? Kroo, Barclays and FD all closed me for inactivity and those accounts were opened a long, long time ago. In the short term, nothing happens. They normally tell you beforehand if they’re going to close it even, like HSBC did.

Edited for tone.

Barclays did this to me.

Any bank has the option to close your account for inactivity.

I would for security reasons, keep the number of active accounts to a manageable low amount.

I understand what card collectors are doing, but surely it’s not necessary to hold all the accounts open.

Most banks if they close the account, you can reopen it.

My main reservation is that it would be a credit check should I want to open a new account to get the new card design. And that the bank may not want me back. Perhaps I could start trimming down on some banks that I genuinely will never use, like Barclays, BoS, Ulster, TSB etc. And I think I can probably close down my Lloyds provided by BoS accounts as well now.

Yeah I’m going to start by closing those two accounts down tonight.

Lloyds provided by BoS Classic Account and Easy Saver both closed.

I wonder how quickly my access to the Halifax app will be revoked now I don’t have any Halifax accounts.

Remove the app. I could still log into my Halifax app a year after I had left.

I received communication to say the Halifax app would be withdrawn on 5th October.. not sure if it’ll work beyond that date though…

I thought it was going to be the 31st October?

Just deregister device and remove app. That date won’t matter anymore

Like Jo, the message they sent me said 31 October.

I seem to be getting bumped earlier?

I’m not sure it’s even a thing there. I’ve had a FD account which I last used in 2023 and it’s just been sat there since, I logged in recently and could start using it there and then, if I wanted to.

And NatWest I’ve had an account for well over 15 years and haven’t used it at all since 2020.

neither have closed or even written to me about closing.

I think fd marks them as dormant on the credit file maybe.

It’s the only bank I’ve ever known to do something like it.
