Connected Accounts: what next? (Summer 2021 edition)

So last year when Plus landed we had some mega polls to ask folk what they wanted next in terms of connected accounts.

A year or so has gone by and Amex has been added (yay :tada:) but not much more (boo :frowning:).

A few folk have mentioned over on the Trends thread that - with Trends - they need more connections. So let’s see if we can nudge @tjvr and co by voting for what we need!

A bit more of a refined list this year. The only criteria are that a) the provider needs to have open banking support or similar API (sorry Marcus and National Savings :broken_heart:) b) aren’t already connected to Monzo, and c) not about to close (sorry Tesco Bank and M&S Bank).

No subdivision for savings, current accounts, credit cards etc - basically if you want any connections from that provider tick the box!

Ready, set, poll!

  • B
  • Bank of Ireland
  • Cahoot
  • Clydesdale
  • Coutts
  • Coventry Building Society
  • Creation Cards
  • Danske
  • New Day Credit cards*

And, as a bonus extra, what extra features do you want from connected accounts?

  • Split the bill
  • Shared tabs
  • Notes and tags
  • Add receipt
  • Enrichment (logos and names)
  • I have all I need
  • Something else (explain below)

:rotating_light: Emergency third poll: :rotating_light:

You only get two votes for this, but what’s most important?

  • More connected accounts (vote above!)
  • More functionality for connected accounts (vote above!)
  • Manual accounts

*New Day credit cards include Amazon, Argos. Debenhams, Burton, Top Shop, Aqua, Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Fluid, House of Fraser, Laura Ashley, Miss Selfridge, Outfit, Tui, Marbles, Opus, Top Man, Wallis. (That feels like mostly a list of companies that have been in administration recently…)

Tymit credit card would be good to add. Although not sure they have open banking yet.

I think Tymit and Jaja fall foul of the ‘must have an API’ rule

A few votes in and I certainly didn’t expect Coutts to have top billing :joy:

Other accounts wise: Metro.

(I voted for a lot which I don’t have but feel they should be there)

Other things transaction wise: just full parity really, excluding a transaction is one thing not covered in the options.

I got a lloyds credit card this week because I gave up on NewDay being added

Don’t judge me. I just wanted the connected accounts thing

My ‘something else’ would be the ability to add these manually.

Nothing too complicated - just creating a manual account with an account balance, then you would be able to see some total worth figures in app.

Next step would be to be able to assign a bank transfer/standing order to/from monzo to the manual account.

I realise this is only really useful for savings accounts with only occasional incomings/outgoings, and not much use for current accounts.

OMG I WANTED TO HAVE A MANUAL ACCOUNT OPTION :man_facepalming:

My something else, as mentioned on another thread, is the ability to select a category for a pending transaction so that I don’t have to wait for it to clear before I can categorise/recategorise it. Probably not a deal breaker but I don’t like when I go in to do something and it won’t let me!

I have added an emergency third poll - scroll back to the top and vote!

my something else m & s bank credit cards, they are not
closing that down, only current accounts

I think I’ve read this is a technical issue - there’s no ID to connect a pending transaction to a completed one, so no way to pull the category over…

@tjvr is that right?

I have failed Tesco and M&S credit card people by being too clever. :frowning:

Revolut already works. Have I missed something there with the first point?
