Iām not sure itās even a thing there. Iāve had a FD account which I last used in 2023 and itās just been sat there since, I logged in recently and could start using it there and then, if I wanted to.
And NatWest Iāve had an account for well over 15 years and havenāt used it at all since 2020.
neither have closed or even written to me about closing.
I had to create details for both my Halifax and BoS accounts. I manually set my details for logging into each app to be identical, but in theory it is a separate login.
Halifax do it too. They made one of my savings accounts dormant because I hadnāt used it for three years. I could still see it in the app, but I couldnāt make any transactions. I left it like that for years because there was only 1p in it, but eventually I messaged them through Chat to reactivate it.
Like @tired , I closed my only Halifax relationship (which was the Halifax Clarity cc, not a current acct) in Jan 2025 and forgot about the app. Fast forward last week I logged back in with no hitch, and proceeded to open the new 8% Halifax Regular Saver (which came with a companion Everyday Saver) with no issue whatsoever. No warning about imminent closing of Halifax, or of the app being shut down. In any case I can access the 2 Halifax Savers in my Lloyds app as well so losing the Halifax app is probably no big deal (Halifax app was needed only to open the Halifax Savers which now can be operated indifferently from either Halifax or Lloyds or BOS app).
Sometimes the Lloyds Banking Group set up seems quite mysterious to me..
Can confirm no email nor in-app message for me about Halifax closing. Maybe they are doing this in waves.
In any case, it is strange that, at the same time they are initiating the migration from Halifax to Lloyds (for all their Halifax products), they are allowing a significant number of current and former Halifax customers (judging by the amount of posts on MSE) to open brand new [1-year+] Halifax [Regular] Savers accounts which are direct mirrors of identical Lloyds & BOS Regular Savers accounts. That just doesnāt make any sense as that just increases the burden of migrating + once Halifax has been turned into Lloyds they will have all these customers holding duplicate RS (āgenuineā Lloyds RS + migrated ex Halifax now Lloyds RS) when in theory a Lloyds client is allowed to hold only one RS - I am exactly in this case.
I donāt have a Halifax current account, just a Halifax CC and a Sharedealing account. Maybe Iām considered low hanging fruit when it comes to migratingā¦
I guess they decided it was the lesser of two evils as otherwise theyād be cutting off all the Halifax customers from having a regular saver account until they moved them all over to the Lloyds side and they could then open Lloyds ones. The only people with duplicate would be people who were Lloyds & Halifax customers
But itās just a number game (imo at least). If they want to increase the number of opened RS (at 8% they seem to be quite popular so not really a hard sell) they could just allow Lloyds/BOS customers to open 2 each instead of 1 , or they could increase the Ā£250 max monthly contribution to Ā£500ā¦? Then on the Halifax side , just ban any new product subscription to make the migration less complicated. Ultimately that should result in the same amount of deposit savings collected via the RS (which, again, are exactly identical across the 3 entities).
Until recently you could, you could open the Club Lloyds reg saver and the non club Lloyds version also and have a total contribution of Ā£650 I think but they recently stopped that so you can now only have one and only up to Ā£250. I think they want the headline rate to attract customers but donāt want too much cash earning that high rate
But then itās pointless to incentivize / allow Halifax customers to subscribe (when that probably complicates the migration) ā¦?
Iām sure the people in Lloyds tower are very smart, smarter than me, I just canāt fathom their reasoning.
With the Lloyds World Elite, could I technically add a friend as an additional card holder, so they get unlimited lounge access (and pay half the cost to me), or does it need to be someone living at the same address as me?
