Leave ratings on Entertainment and Eating Out payments

Just an idea, when payments pop up for certain categories, an option to rate out of 5 the experience.

Potentially link to trip advisor or allow Monzo users to look on a map at places to see how many stars other Monzo users have rated their experience on average.

It’s an interesting idea. I would personally drop Monzo immediately if I had to start looking at 5–star ratings on transactions, because I find them obnoxious and not particularly helpful, but others seem to find use in them.

What would be the advantage of seeing the rating after you’ve been there and paid?

I don’t even bother looking at reviews as everyone has their own opinion, tastes etc

All review systems IMO are pointless

I’m assuming the idea is that you can rate the place.

It’s interesting, but I’m not sure I’d like it being in my bank account.

I understand that but how do I view ratings others have left? It would need the whole mechanism to search for places in advance as well.

Then what if a business owner wants to dispute a rating? How are they moderated, how can a business claim their listing page to respond to people? How as customer will I be verified? The merchant data isn’t the best so I could rate a totally different place to what I’ve visited.

This is probably just the tip of the iceberg too.

I agree it’s a hell of a lot of work that I don’t think a bank should be getting into. It would be nice but there are more we’ll established services out there that have this nailed.

I would imagine it would be an integration into TripAdvisor or similar. I don’t think it would make sense for monzo to roll their one for that kind of thing.

I was actually thinking about something similar this morning. I’m not overly fussed about Trip Advisor style ratings, but more about a little reminder for me about which restaurant was the great one, which takeaway should I avoid etc…

Integration with another provider like TripAdvisor or Trustpilot would be best.

To make it useful you’d need to see the ratings in advance and I can’t see it fitting in anywhere nicely in the app. What good are ratings once you’ve already been there and experienced it first hand?

If you can’t remember a great experience, was it really “great”?
