Not sure you’re making sense there.
Not for me, common sense tells me to read and tap bronze. Less is more, right?
Why do they need to be labelled gold, silver and bronze? In most cases, people will see gold and think “that must be better” because gold is always better.
Its pushing people into a choice by labelling them in a strange way.
That’s exactly what it is. Don’t really see an issue with it… if people don’t read then it is their fault. If I have to see ads, I would much prefer to see ads targeted to me. I have the willpower not to buy everything that is shoved in my face. I even use it to my advantage. If I want a new wallet for example, I will explicitly search for wallets and wait for the adverts with discounts to roll in.
Dark patterns.
Caching? A mistake?
Nobody here is going to know. You’re very invested in this aren’t you!
And someone might know, hence why i asked. You dont know if no one knows. This isnt the first app Ive seen similar happen to so it isnt just an ITVX thing.
And no, im not that invested. Im just doing anything to distract myself from something that is even more uninteresting, but something I have to do.
The ITV Hub app on nvidia shield just crashes constantly now… Not that I ever used it, but it’s a bit poor for the people who regularly used it. Presumably the backend has changed to itvx and there’s a bunch of incompatibility to iron out.
That is definitely psychological marketing to drive people to clicking on the Gold option.
If the labeled them the following who would choose the first option

Very fine web design.
Is anyone actually surprised?
This was annoying me yesterday as I was trying to watch the football but didn’t want to give it full screen. Thought it was me that couldn’t figure out how to hide it.
Politics?
It’s not politics, it’s just business. STV plc is a completely separate company to ITV plc. Both are constituent parts of the ‘ITV Network’ (which is a different thing to ITV plc)
If I try to watch the live part of ITV Hub (still not renamed on the nvidia shield even though it’s been rebranded internally) you just get a popup that says ‘there’s an issue with ITVX at our end. Please try again.’
But at least that’s improved from it refusing to start up at all which it did last week.
Tried to watch the match yesterday and my app had upgraded to ITVX.
There’s no PIP on iPad?? What a joke.
I’ve seen a lot of complaints of twitter about ITVX but I’ve had absolutely no issues with it (both on Android and Fire TV). Everything works really well. It clearly lacks a lot of features compared to iPlayer etc but when people have asked them about it, they’ve said they are working on them.
I think in general, they are clearly trying to bring their branding to a younger audience. Their new logos, idents, ITVX in general just seems more bright, fun, and youthful, compared to their old branding that was just boring to be honest.
