ISA transfer from company not listed (Tembo)

Does anyone know how to initiate an ISA transfer from a company that is not in the company search?

Does it not give you the option at the bottom for not listed, or similar?

No, I see a list of “popular providers”, and a search button, but nothing is listed for “tem”. Plenty that match “te”. There’s no option for not listed or similar. I thought perhaps Tembo might be listed under a different name, but can’t google anything up on that.

I wonder if it’s because I’m transferring into a stocks and shares ISA, and the Tembo one is a cash ISA. I don’t see anywhere that this can’t be done, but I don’t think Tembo do sticks and shares ISAs so maybe that’s why they’re not on the Monzo list.

It would be good to have a way of asking Monzo directly without sharing personal info on the internet, but maybe I’m just old fashioned.

You can drop us a message through the in-app chat

The transfer of a Cash ISA into a S&S (or a cash) ISA is far less complicated than the transfer of a S&S ISA so that is unlikely to be the reason. What is more likely is that either Tembo don’t participate in the electronic “Cash ISA Transfer Service” which most banks use, or if they do Monzo haven’t got round to adding them.

I’ve just checked with another main provider (A large B.Soc.) and Tembo don’t appear on their list either so I suspect Tembo aren’t yet included in that system or there is something incompatible preventing them being incuded.

If they aren’t in that system the transfer will need to be handled manually by Monzo.

Feel free to post back when you have the details of how to proceed, it might help others. At some stage you will ned to complete and sign an ISA transfer form (form can be online only if the signature can be live electronic only if Monzo have a system allowing a live electronic signature, if not it’s snail mail!)

Oh, you have to go through the AI chat phase first? OK, thank Dan.

The chat assistant seems to think that even if my provider isn’t listed, I can enter the details manually “when prompted during the transfer process”, but that doesn’t seem to be true. I can’t see how to get past needing to select a provider.

When I said this, it offered to escalate to the Savings Investments team, so I think I understand how to use it now.
