That makes more sense. Clip off one … R-
MKBHD said in his video you can but as far as I’m aware he’s only got the same information available to him as we do at the moment
Edit: Come to think of it he might’ve just said the accessories are stackable, so who knows
What new features warrant buying the new iPhone then ? From what I’ve read the camera is one of them, 108 megapixels is impressive, much more than the 48mp on my samsung … anything else ?
Serious question and I’m inquisitive to know
iPhone only has 12 megapixel cameras. But that number is meaningless in and of itself, what really matters is pixel size. In fact the more pixels you cram on the same size sensor, the more noise you will have.
For me, cameras and the new design would be the two reasons to upgrade. MagSafe is a nice addition too.
Yeah that’s true , I’m no expert in photography though.
My old huawei had a 13mp camera which was dire compared to my iPhone 7 which was 12mp
I’m not an expert either but combined with pixel binning, more resolution on the same sized sensor can be a positive.
108MP images probably aren’t a great idea.
The sensor is the key.
MP was something marketing people jumped on, probably because it sounds like a good number when it’s so high.
I’m not sure what to do now… I was planning on getting the pixel 5(currently using pixel 3). But I do love the look of the new iPhone. I used to love the feel of my old iPhone 5 way back then, and this reminds of alot of that…
Choices choices!
So apparently Mous have been doing the whole magnetic wallet and accessory thing for over two years.
That’s not really news. Logitech have been doing it even longer, there’s nothing proprietary about putting magnets inside a case
And Apple, as usual, refined the technology even more to allow more use cases
This is what my 12 yo nephew did. A fully functioning iPhone SE back within a fortnight.
I’m tempted as it’s a true world phone, where as other manufacturers lock the 5G to specific regions (looking at you, Samsung)
My Note 20 5G is a hong kong variant, does support 5G in the UK - but as such only officially supports 5G bands in hong kong (the korea version has the same processor and different bands) same with the U.S model.
My question is, if Apple can make a “true” world phone (minus the mmwave) by having all 5G bands supported, then others can and should follow.
Yes, I could have got the UK version, but exynos…
Only thing stopping me is I want to keep my dual whatsapp (personal and work) without jailbreaking. The fact that I only bought this phone this year as well.
I have owned iPhones and still have my 8 Plus
I thought it was a new idea they’d come up with and was seriously impressed.
In this case Apple are increasing choice by building it in and letting the ecosystem make use of it. By the time I get a new iPhone there should be a truckload of accessories.
Ignoring the base 64GB model, the 128GB iPhone 12 is only £150 less than the equivalent Pro.
Feels like next year they may finally have 128GB as the base storage. Although it wouldn’t shock me if it was longer.
128GB is a sweet spot for me. 64GB isn’t enough but 256GB is overkill.
yeah, as long as you’ve got enough iCloud storage, 128 is about right, 512 must be for people who use them for professional video recording etc
Well, an update for me. With a spare phone at the ready and my finger on the trigger to buy the iPhone 12, I decided to attempt a last ditch repair of my Samsung S8. I followed a youtube video from iFixit to replace the charging coil, and it worked! So I’ll be keeping my Samsung for now.
It is close but isn’t a true world phone. It doesn’t support mmwave outside the US (more of a future long term issue in the UK) and also there are still a few variants supporting different bands. The uk is still in the category with most of the rest of the world and I haven’t done comparisons on the rest, but thought it was worth highlighting!
In my experience iOS isn’t great at offloading storage to the cloud, which feels like it may be intentional given Apple’s preference of doing things on device.
I used to be fine on a 32GB Pixel but my 64GB XR is tougher to manage.
I pay for 2TB of iCloud but Apple Photos is still using 10x the storage of Google Photos.
