As much as there are some changes in iOS 26 I don’t like when my home screen changes to something where the clock and the sun interact I love it:
Looks like the sun burned the digits and they expanded
I must say, coming back into the beta, albeit in public form, had been very pleasant. No real bugs, battery had been excellent and gives me the opportunity to experience what’s new.
I joined the developer beta with beta 5, which wasn’t very smooth. Since beta 6 I haven’t had any issues other than slightly misaligned text in a couple of places which have now been fixed. For my personal use, it feels just like a release now.
I expect that we’ll get an RC this coming week then a release with the event on 9/9.
How stable is the latest public beta?
I’m considering it
It’s the same as developer beta 8 which I’m running, so you should be fine. I’d take a full backup (to disk, not iCloud) before you install it, though, just in case.
I’ve downloaded ios 26 beta on my iphone using magfone, to be honest, i like these new features. The liquid glass is also perfect. I’m waiting for its official release. And hope that live translation will intergrate with other apps.
Out of interest, why did you use a hacking tool and not just sign up for the beta?
Now the RC is out how is everyone finding it?
It’s still good, although there are a few pesky bugs here and there, nothing major.
Yes, nothing major and very little minor, too.
Still quite a few people complaining on the MacRumours forum about things still being a millimetre out of place, etc. but that lot will never be happy ![]()
It is usually a week after the iPhone event that the new iOS is released to all?
Public release is on Monday
I’m loving it, but the discourse bug still remains. Other than that it’s super smooth.
My shortcuts app still acts up when I enable certain automations. It then just fails to open, crashes at launch
Apple wallet balance widget seems to update automatically now when I pay for something which is cool.
So, for those of us who held back - the official release for iOS 26 (and everything else) is now out.
Also one build ahead of the RC. As usual, you’ll most likely only see today’s release if you disable beta updates.
If you’re a beta addict, you may as well stay on the RC with beta updates enabled because 26.1 beta will probably be out in a few days. I haven’t noticed any difference between RC and release.
Also - pretty impressed that Monzo themselves have also embraced Liquid Glass and updated their app to support it. None of the other banks that I have the app for have done that (Starling, Revolut, Chase, LHV) and it makes the Monzo app look a lot more modern. Starling specifically is definitely showing it’s age - maybe alongside the brand refresh in a few weeks they’ll also give the app generally a fresh lick of paint….
Anyone with an older-ish phone upgraded yet? I’m thinking of staying on iOS 18 until I get a new phone
